Barcelona made Ansu Fati their second-youngest debutant at just 16 years of age against Real Betis on Sunday night at Camp Nou.
The Juvenil A forward made his first appearance for the first team, becoming the youngest player to do so since Vicente Martinez in 1941, while his opportunity came due to the injuries in attack, with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele all unavailable for the clash with Betis.
"The truth is that I was very nervous, but I only have words of thanks for everyone; the club, the coach, the fans, who have received me so well," Fati told the club's media.
"I looked to my parents, my family, those who have accompanied me to this point.
"I stayed there on the pitch because I couldn't believe it, and now it's time to enjoy the moment. I only have words of thanks."
With Messi and Suarez hoping to be back in contention to face Osasuna next weekend, Fati will have to work hard to keep his place in the matchday squad.

This is the guy Barca should invest their time and development in. In current football it's very rare to have players talk about their club from the bottom of their heart and it sounding genuine. This kid is genuine and you can tell if he keeps himself professional that he can be a star. I wish most footballers were like this kid, hes just happy to be there as his dream, these kinda stories make me have hope in modern football...
