How will Argentina and Croatia line up for their 2022 World Cup semi-final?

Argentina take on Croatia in the first 2022 World Cup semi-final on Tuesday after both sides were victorious in penalty shootouts in the quarter-finals.

Gonzalo Montiel and Marcos Acuña both received yellow cards in the quarter-final game against the Netherlands and are therefore suspended for the semi-final against Croatia.

The two Sevilla full-backs were on yellow cards before the dramatic encounter against the Netherlands and picked up yellow cards in the game against Louis van Gaal’s side.

Italian referee Daniele Orsato will take charge of Argentina-Croatia on Tuesday 13 December.

The match will be played at the Lusail Stadium.

Croatia beat La Albiceleste 3-0 in the group stages of the 2018 World Cup and eventually lost 4-2 to France in the final.

At France ‘98, Argentina beat Croatia 1-0 to take first place in Group H, four years after the sides played out a 0-0 friendly draw in their first ever encounter.

In between both World Cup games, the two played two friendly matches against each other in 2006 and 2014.
