Arne Slot makes decision on next Liverpool transfer exit after latest Isak twist

Liverpool's summer has been a busy one but the Premier League transfers look like they still have work to do on ins and outs before the transfer window slams shut

Liverpool manager Arne Slot is not ready to let Federico Chiesa leave Anfield, it has been claimed. The Italy international struggled for minutes last term, but the departure of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez could offer him more opportunities.

The Reds have been busy this summer, adding Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, among others. They might not be done, though, with a renewed bid for Alexander Isak potentially on the cards.

Isak is understood to have told Newcastle he has played his final game for the club. However, Liverpool have yet to meet the Magpies' asking price of around £150million.

The Reds have raised more than £100m through the sales of Diaz and Nunez, who joined Bayern Munich and Al Hilal respectively. There is Serie A interest in Chiesa, who joined for £12.7m last summer, but Slot has other plans.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via The Mail), Slot believes Chiesa is needed at Anfield - at least for now. Whether a move for Isak changes that remains to be seen.

Chiesa's first season at Anfield was a tough one, with injuries limiting his involvement. Even so, he spoke of having no regrets after ending the campaign at a Premier League champion.

"The year is over. But it's an experience I would do again," Chiesa told Corriere dello Sport (via the Liverpool Echo) back in June. "Soon I will sit down at the table with the club, (my agent) Fali (Ramadani) and my family to find the best solution. I wouldn't mind staying in Liverpool at all."

Napoli and Inter Milan have both been linked with Chiesa, who previously spent time at Juventus. Slot stood in the way of a January exit, though and is expected to do the same this summer following the sales of Diaz and Nunez and the tragic death of Diogo Jota.

The potential arrival of Isak would boost the Reds' options, though. While predominantly a No.9, the Swede could form part of a fluid front three with any combination of Ekitike, Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo - with Wirtz also an option from the left.

One man who could end up leaving this summer, however, is Harvey Elliott. RB Leipzig and Tottenham have both been linked with the England Under-21 star after he saw his opportunities limited last term.

"Look, if I had it my way, I'd be here for the rest of my career, it's as simple as that, I love everything about the club," Elliott told The Anfield Wrap in July

"But at the same time I kind of need to be selfish with myself and see what's best for me. I have big ambitions. I want to go to the World Cup. I want to keep being successful as a player."
