Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw by Sunderland at Anfield on Wednesday night, leaving them in eighth place in the Premier League tablr
Liverpool took a point from their latest Premier League clash on Wednesday night, but their run of winless games at home continues. A rare midweek game saw the Reds draw 1-1 with newly-promoted Sunderland at Anfield.
Chemsdine Talbi put the Black Cats in the lead in the 67th minute. However, with just nine minutes of regular time left, Florian Wirtz thought he had scored his first Premier League goal. His shot ricocheted off Nordi Mukiele, with the strike put down as an own goal.
The outcome has put a damper on the momentum gained from the weekend's 2-0 away victory over West Ham United. It also means that Arne Slot's squad have only managed to win one of their last four Premier League matches as their difficulties persist.
Another worry for the Liverpool manager might be his team's results at home. The result against Sunderland means that the Reds haven't tasted victory in their last three outings at Anfield across all competitions.
Their most recent victory on home soil was exactly a month ago in the Champions League against Real Madrid. Since then, they've suffered a 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest and a 4-1 loss to PSV in the Champions League, in addition to the draw against Sunderland.
According to Opta, it's the first time in nearly five years that Liverpool have failed to secure a win in three consecutive home games. Back in March 2021, Liverpool were winless in their eighth consecutive game at Anfield under former boss Jurgen Klopp.
That streak occurred during the period when matches were held behind closed doors due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It could be suggested that the absence of home supporters had an effect on the team, but Liverpool don't have that explanation this time around.
Klopp's challenging run began on December 27 with a 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion.
This was followed by a stalemate with Manchester United, 1-0 defeats to Burnley and Brighton, a 4-1 thrashing by Man City, a 2-0 loss to Everton and 1-0 defeats to Chelsea and Fulham. The Reds finally returned to winning ways at Anfield with a 2-0 Champions League triumph over RB Leipzig on March 10.
In both the preceding and following seasons, they managed to remain unbeaten at home in the Premier League.
Given Liverpool's current struggles, this is a streak that Slot will be keen to break as soon as possible. The Reds have two away matches in the coming week, starting with a visit to Leeds United in the Premier League on Saturday (5.30pm kick-off), before jetting off to Italy to face Inter in the Champions League on Tuesday night (8pm).
They'll be back at Anfield on Saturday, December 12 (3pm), when they welcome Brighton in the Premier League. Currently, Liverpool are sitting in eighth position in the league table, having secured 22 points from their 14 matches so far.

Don't go with nobody, first clear your obstacles with your club. First of all think about your players wages and leave your Stinginess aside sports doesn't go like that. Most important the surroundings of the club from the Board to the manager. LIVERPOOL Is a 7 star club and top of all for a low grade coach all because of Stinginess you are wrong. My friendly Fan advice sell the club to an tycoon Arab, white people have no money.
