Arsenal moved above Tottenham into third in the Premier League table with a 2-0 defeat of Newcastle United on Monday.
Match Report
Arsenal edged to a 10th Premier League home win in a row against Newcastle United, thanks to Aaron Ramsey and Alexandre Lacazette.
Aaron Ramsey, bound for Juventus after this season, struck his fourth league goal of 2018-19 before Alexandre Lacazette settled a somewhat scrappy encounter at Emirates Stadium.
Unai Emery's side were far from their best, but Ramsey's display while wearing the captain's armband was significant, and his departure with an apparent injury in the second half will come as something of a worry.
Newcastle, who rarely threatened Bernd Leno's goal, remain seven points above the bottom three despite a 12th league defeat in their past 13 meetings with the Gunners, which was confirmed by Lacazette's lobbed finish seven minutes from time.
Match Events
13' Ramsey scores but goal chalked off due to foul
A corner comes in from the left and it's flicked on by Iwobi...it finds Ramsey charging in at the back post who thumps it home. However, the referee had spotted some shirt pulling by Sokratis in the middle.
30' GOAL! Arsenal 1-0 Newcastle (Ramsey)
Lacazette buzzes around into space behind Lejeune and spots the Welshman in space about 15 yards out.
He still has a lot to do but produces a classic Ramsey finish to place a low drive into the corner of the net, via the far post.
34' Leno denies Rondon!
Rondon bullies Sokratis into an error and he bruises his way into the box down the left. Leno has to be alert to scramble the shot around the post.
45' CLOSE! Lacazette's shot saved
WHAT A CLEARANCE!!! Ritchie keeps Newcastle in this match with a stunning goal-line save.
Ozil instigates a move down the left and clips one back into the danger zone. Lacazette swivels and hooks a fine strike at goal from 10 yards. Dubravka is beat but Ritchie is there to somehow flick a header wide of the post!
73' CHANCE! Aubameyang's shot saved
Ozil then releases Aubameyang in behind Dummett who can't live with his pace. From a tight angle the striker pulls the trigger but Dubravka palms it to safety.
83' GOAL! Arsenal 2-0 Newcastle (Lacazette)
Aubameyang flicks a ball over the top of Lascelles who sums up Newcastle's night with a poor decision to let the ball bounce. Dubravka is off his line and the Lacazette - sharp as ever - lofts the ball over the goalkeeper and into the net.
86' Lacazette's goal ruled out!
A corner from the left bring Dubravka off his line. Lacazette jumps with him and the ball rebounds off the goalkeeper's hand and rolls into the net. However, Anthony Taylor blows, giving a handball by Lacazette! Poor call.

* If AUBAMEYANG had the finishing ability of Lacazette. He would have already scored 25 + goals in the league. *Loan out Iwobi to earn more experience and learn the dynamic factor and end product to his game. *We are loosing an excellent player in Ramsey. *Mainland Niles has the potential to be as good as Joshua Kimmich. #Coyg.
