Arsenal are facing a battle to hold onto rising strike starlet Khayon Edwards amid mounting interest from clubs in England and abroad – including London rivals Chelsea.
The Gunners are yet to agree terms on a professional contract for prolific forward Edwards, 18, who is in the final year of his scholarship deal.
Arsenal have made a number of offers in their attempts to secure Edwards’ long-term future but so far none have persuaded him to put pen-to-paper.
That has encouraged admirers of the teenager who has scored 14 times and set up six more goals in just 13 appearances at youth level for Arsenal this season. Edwards has also featured for Arsenal in the EFL Trophy and trained with Mikel Arteta’s first team.
Once again, strong interest in a young Premier League-based talent has come from Germany with Hertha Berlin, RB Leipzig, Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen all keen on Edwards.
But clubs in England have also been alerted to the potential availability of one of the most exciting talents of his age in this country.
Along with Chelsea, Leeds, Southampton, Brighton and Newcastle are all monitoring developments with Edwards closely.
With his current deal heading into its final six months, Edwards is likely to make a decision on his future early next year.
