Arsenal had a busy summer transfer window and could be in action once again in January as they look to move on some stars to raise funds if the correct offer arrives
Arsenal could cash in on £95million worth of talent this January to boost their coffers for a push for the Premier League title after it emerged the Gunners are 'open to offers' for a number of stars.
Mikel Arteta's side finally look to have the depth to turn from challenger to title winner and have a four-point advantage atop the Premier League after 11 matches. A draw against Sunderland last time out served as a warning to anyone getting ahead of themselves, however.
The Gunners spent £250million in the summer to beef up Arteta's options. Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Viktor Gyokeres and Eberechi Eze all arrived at the Emirates.
Arsenal may now be ready to see some of that money return. Three players could be sold if the correct offers arrive.
Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus and Ben White have been touted as potential departees. Their combined valuation, per Transfermarkt, totals £95m, which could fund a tidy transfer if Arsenal move quickly.
Offers for Gabriel Martinelli could be considered amid interest from Saudi Arabia. The Brazilian faces greater competition following the arrival of Madueke, while Leandro Trossard has deputised in the duo's absence.
Ben White is seeing his situation monitored too. The defender has made just six appearances and has largely been confined to the bench this term. Jurrien Timber's strong form has ensured the Dutchman is difficult to displace. The ex-Ajax ace did need some treatment on international duty, however.
Jesus is also another player under consideration as he nears his comeback. The forward has been recovering from an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury he sustained in last season's FA Cup third round. He scored four goals in two games against Crystal Palace before suffering the major setback almost a year ago. It is said Arsenal are aiming to get Jesus fit ahead of the winter transfer window opening on January 1.
If a 'suitable' offer arrives, the club will then look to offload the striker. Though, Arteta appears very happy the ex-Man City ace will soon be at his disposal. “So I’m thrilled to have him, I think he’s going to add something extra to the team that we don’t have and make sure that very soon we see him on that pitch making an impact for the team," said the Spaniard.
“We haven’t had them [all fit] and now we don’t have Viktor, and we haven’t had Kai again for three months or many forwards, and unfortunately that’s becoming something that consistently is happening. So we need those options, and what an option to have with Gabi.”
