Arsenal's transfer window is starting to pick up pace after making two major signings and Brentford's Christian Norgaard is set to become the latest addition as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his midfield option

Arsenal have reportedly wrapped up the signing of Brentford captain Christian Norgaard, who could soon be joined at the Emirates by Viktor Gyokeres. Norgaard is set to become Mikel Arteta's third arrival alongside Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi.

The Gunners are starting to ramp up their transfer business this summer after bringing in competition for number one goalkeeper David Raya, while Zubimendi has joined from Sociedad for around £60m to bolster the midfield after the departures of Jorginho and Thomas Partey.

And Norgaard will further strengthen Arteta's options in the middle of the park after he signs for a relative bargain deal of £10m guaranteed plus £2m in add-ons, according to the Athletic.

The report says Norgaard has already undergone a medical with the Gunners and is expected to be unveiled by the club at the end of the week.

The 31-year-old has spent the last six seasons with the Bees, having joined them as a Championship club from Fiorentina in 2019, helping them win promotion to the Premier League in 2021.

He has since become a mainstay at the Gtech Community Stadium, playing a total of 196 times and scoring 13 goals.

Last season he netted five goals and assisted four in the Premier League as Brentford finished tenth in the table and he will give Arsenal some much-needed steel in midfield as they look to challenge Liverpool for the title again.

It comes as Arsenal also look to clinch the signing of Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres as Arteta desperately seeks the firepower he needs to challenge for the Premier League crown.

Arsenal are locked in talks with Sporting over the prolific forward, who was the highest scorer in Europe last season with 54 goals in 52 games.

The Portuguese club are currently demanding around £70m in total for the player, with transfer chief Andrea Berta jetting out to Portugal to conclude the deal.

Mirror Football has already reported how Arsenal have agreed a deal with Gyokeres over a five-year contract worth around £200,000 a week.

In addition to the Swedish star, Arteta is also chasing deals for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke and Real Madrid star Rodrygo - while Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze is a target too.
