Arsenal transfer news: The latest media briefing with stories and reaction to reports on Mikel Arteta's midfielder hunt, Gabri Veiga's future and Brazilian starlet Bitello
Veiga prefers Arsenal
Celta Vigo starlet Gabri Veiga has reportedly made it clear that he would rather join Arsenal over north London rivals Tottenham. The Spain Under-21s international has been strongly tipped for a big-money move to the Premier League with Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle all keen.
AS have reported that Veiga has his heart set on a move to the Emirates Stadium, with journalist Manu Sainz suggesting the Gunners are the English club Veiga "likes the most".
The Celta prodigy would not cost too much money, either. The Athletic previously reported that Veiga has a release clause of around £34million ($44.1million).
With Arsenal spending so much on Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber, ticking off another priority for so cheap is a no-brainer for the Gunners. The competition from the likes of Tottenham and Chelsea could be difficult to fend off, but Veiga's preference of a move to the Emirates Stadium is certainly good news.
What will be interesting is whether or not Arsenal pursue their interest.
Next transfer target plan
According to Radio Guabia's Rafael Pfeiffer, Bitello is of interest to the Gunners and a move could be thrashed out in the coming days.
The report has been seconded by Brazilian outlet Correio do Povo, who claim Mikel Arteta's team are lining-up a bid for the 23-year-old.
football.london says: Arsenal are becoming accustomed to moves for Brazilian starlets plying their trade in South America. Gabriel Martinelli has been a success and Marquinhos has potential to follow in his footsteps.
Last January, the Gunners failed to sign Danilo - who went on to sign for Nottingham Forest - but a move for Bitello makes sense. The versatile midfielder, who will reportedly cost £8.5million, has thrived in Gremio's first team since emerging through their academy and could be a valuable option.
Getting a deal conducted sooner rather than later could be key for Arteta. With various reports suggesting a new wing-back and midfielder continue to be on the club's shortlist, timing will be key.

At this stage of transfer arsenal don't need half bake players if we want to win trophies, enough of grooming or future prospects a player of 8.5m pounds to me as a long way to, we don't need such now. We only sign one player with all these bro ha ha while man city are busy down what they know best bring in quality players and we want to compete with them[Crylaugh].I don't know may be kroenke is the problem or the board who are stingy with the money, useless people giving us unrest of mind imagine just one player I'll not live this my club for you you'll live for me
