Arsenal's search for a new striker has seen them renew interest in Benjamin Sesko - but RB Leipzig will not sell the Slovenia international on the cheap this summer
Arsenal have been told it will cost them a mammoth £92.5million to sign Benjamin Sesko this summer with RB Leipzig ready to play hardball over their sought-after striker.
The Gunners are in the market for a new No.9 in the upcoming transfer window and have set their sights on Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres. Both have been linked with numerous top European clubs and are expected to be on the move ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
Sesko, 21, is a long-term Arsenal target; the Londoners were courting the Slovenia international last summer only for him to sign a new contract with Leipzig.
After keeping their powder dry in January, Arsenal are now ready to spend big on a new frontman - but a deal for Sesko would not come cheap, with Leipzig demanding more than £90m for their star striker.
According to The Telegraph, Leipzig are in a strong bargaining position given Sesko is on a contract which runs until 2029. They value him at €110m (£92.5m) and are prepared to stand their ground amid interest from the Premier League.
Sesko plundered 21 goals for the Bundesliga outfit this term across a disappointing campaign which ended in a seventh-place finish. Another of their exciting young stars, Xavi Simons, has also been linked with Premier League clubs.
While Sesko is a player Arsenal admire, the north London outfit have other options: namely Gyokeres, who it is thought will be available for between £60m and £70m this summer.

The Swede, 26, has a fan in the form of Arsenal's new sporting director, Andrea Berta, and has also enjoyed a stellar season, scoring 54 goals in all competitions for Sporting Lisbon.
Arsenal are also in the market for reinforcements in midfield and a left winger, while they have been heavily linked with the Espanyol goalkeeper, Joan Garcia.
Leroy Sane has emerged as a new target to bolster Mikel Arteta's options in attack and is a player the Spaniard knows from his time at Manchester City. Sane, 29, is out of contract at the end of next month.
Martin Zubimendi is poised to become the club's first summer transfer; the playmaker will undergo a medical imminently before leaving Real Sociedad for £51m.

I have never seen an arrogant coach as Arteta, and believe me if we won't sign a prolific striker this summer then we should forget about lifting any trophy.

Arteta, try and complete a deal for a striker because it's already taking you too long to do that when you clearly know its area of importance that has cause you the league for two seasons. Instead, you are concluding deals for a midfielder, a position where you don't even have issues. Just be serious for once before other clubs hijack your deals, and then you will come out and tell us there are no quality players in the market who can improve the Arsenal squad. Fans shouldn't be surprise if Arteta comes out to say that Merino can cover up the striker role because he stepped up for them during the injury crisis to the Arsenal team in the just concluded season where he was deployed as a false nine. Pep was also in the same situation prior to the signing of Haaland, lacking in the striker position that caused him the Champions League trophy in two consecutive seasons. He acted swiftly in the next summer after losing to Chelsea in the 2021 Champions League finals by signing two strikers in the likes of Haaland and Alvarez at once, and the rest they say were history. You have tried playing without an out and out striker for 2-3 seasons, and everyone, including you, Arteta, has seen the only missing puzzle in the Arsenal team is a top striker, why are you still delaying in doing the needful and not just doing it, but get it done swiftly and move to other target unless you want to continue being like a Netflix foozball club where fans will always wait for a season two and I know the Arsenal board won't even spare you after next season without a trophy. It's high time to get serious in the transfer market and not time to scout the players for other teams to buy.
is it Arteta who signs players or negotiates the signing of players!!??

Alvares would be the perfect signing for Arsenal. It would be hard to get him but you know he can play in Premier League, and he is so versatile. Perfect!!!!

This Sesko is not worth the price tag. He’s over priced run away and go for Otsime. The higher the risk the higher the return.

Perhaps Arsenal is looking to sign good looking guys rather than focusing on players who could deliver to them the elusive EPL trophies and more

I think Sesko and Leipzig have a gentlemen agreement to have him sold on "fairer terms" (he renewed last summer but his price tag was to remain the same but would increase slightly depending on his stats). Looks like Leipzig is playing hardball. Lets see how this plays out..
