Arsenal transfer news: Mikel Arteta's side will receive a small transfer windfall after one of the Gunners' former stars secured a move to the Premier League

Arsenal are set to receive 10% of Konstantinos Mavropanos' £17million move to West Ham, football.london understands.

Mavropanos completed his return to the Premier League on Tuesday after signing a five-year contract with the Hammers. The 25-year-old arrives from German side Stuttgart, having only left the Gunners last summer.

The Greece international joined the north Londoners in 2018 but struggled to break into the first team. Throughout his four year stint at the club, Mavropanos made more appearances for the Under-21s (17) than he did at senior level and spent half of his time on loan at FC Nurnberg and Stuttgart.

Arsenal sold the defender for £3million last summer and an impressive season in the Bundesliga has resulted in West Ham bringing him back to the Premier League for £17million including £2million in add-ons.

Whilst the fee isn't enough to set the world alight, it does add a minor amount to Edu Gaspar's transfer fund for the remainder of the transfer window. The Gunners have been busy in the market this summer, spending over £230million on Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber, Kai Havertz and David Raya.

Mavropanos could make his West Ham debut on Saturday against high-flyers Brighton & Hove Albion, over four years after his last Premier League appearance against Burnley on the final day of the 2018/19 season.
