Gabriel Jesus has revealed his frustration over his lack of minutes at Arsenal this season. The Brazilian attacker, who was a half-time substitute in the Gunners' disappointing 1-0 Champions League defeat at Inter Milan on Wednesday night, has started just five of Arsenal's 16 matches in all competitions so far this term. Jesus has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates and was recently left out of Brazil's squad for upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Uruguay amid his lack of minutes. But Jesus has now vowed to fight to turn his fortunes around, telling TNT Sports Brasil after last night's loss at the San Siro: “Well, I believe that not only me, but any player, all players, want to have more minutes.
“I’m obviously never going to cause anything in the club, I’m going to try to demonstrate on a daily basis, in training, and when I get into the games, have my chance, and do my thing and trust that things will happen.
“I’ve always made it very clear that I want to improve, that I want to try to do my best and help Arsenal.
“Obviously, my moment is not the best, it’s not the moment I wanted, that I would like, but as I said, I’m working on my own, trying to do my best, and get more minutes to play, but that’s a consequence of my training, it’s a consequence of the way I get in and leave the decision to the coach.
“I believe in my potential, and I also know that the fight for my place in Arsenal is big, but I also believe that I can help a lot.”
Jesus was recently targeted by former club Palmeiras, who have shown an interest in bringing the 27-year-old back to South America.
However, Arsenal swiftly rebuffed their advances as Jesus remains part of their immediate plans, even if his long-term future in north London looks somewhat unclear.
Palmeiras president Leila Pereira said last month: "Gabriel Jesus is not coming. We got in touch with Arsenal, and they said 'Leila, there are no conditions whatsoever. We are not going to negotiate for the player.' The subject is therefore closed."
Jesus has scored just one goal, which came in the recent Carabao Cup demolition of Preston, in 14 appearances in all competitions this season and the strike ended a nine-month goal drought for the ex-Manchester City attacker.
