Arsenal have been warned to steer clear of Real Madrid youngster Arda Guler in the January transfer window.
The Gunners are said to have made contact with the 19-year-old Turkey international over the possibility of a move, after a difficult start to 2024/25 for the youngster. Guler has enjoyed limited opportunities to impress under Carlo Ancelotti this term, despite being one of the breakout stars of Euro 2024.
The teenager made his fourth start of the season in Real Madrid's win over Leganes on Sunday and reports suggest that Guler is unhappy in the Spanish capital. Though, he has not yet given up hope of breaking through at the Bernabeu.
Spanish outlet Sport claim that Arsenal have opened talks with Guler. The Gunners are said to be interested in a loan deal before looking to make that permanent.
Former Tottenham and Sunderland striker Darren Bent does not believe it is a move that the north London side should consider however. The ex-England international does not believe Guler is of a standard to threaten Mikel Arteta's strongest XI.
"Not for me. You want a grade out of five? said Bent on talkSPORT’s Insider Gooners podcast.
"He won’t fit the squad. I think he’s a very good player, I saw him at the Euros, very talented. But will you swap one bench for another?
"At Real Madrid he’s not getting the opportunities. Coming to Arsenal there are better options, be it out wide or in the No.10 role. I can’t see that one happening. Good player, but, not for Arsenal, no."
January will see the first transfer window that Arsenal must preside over without the services of sporting director Edu. The former Gunners midfield resigned from his position earlier this month and is currently on gardening leave.
Assistant sporting director Jason Ayto has stepped into the position until Arsenal identify a replacement. Arteta is confident the Gunners can continue to find success with Edu.
"The plan and vision, that starts with the ownership, that is very clear and very ambitious is going to continue," the Spaniard said. "We have a very strong leadership team with an unbelievable know-how, a real passion and great feelings for the club, we're not going to stop where we are at the moment.
"Across the club, the excitement, the passion, the understanding of where we want to take this journey remain intact."

The question is: is he better than Nwanieri?
this is the reason your team never won European trophy and struggling to win a trophy in last couple of years. How can you compare Nwanieri with guler. Arda's potential is like yamal and your are comparing him with an average kid. If guler got the time what yamal getting then the story will be different. Arsenal and their fans failure never end because of this n0ns€nse attitude

Arteta should go for Victor Gyorekes instead of Isak,he can't pay 100 million pounds for Isak...we need a striker and this guy right now is our answer to winning the EPL

If you had asked Bent about Odegard leaving from Real Madrid bench to become Arsenal starter and captain, he would have also said no.
