In the 23rd round of the Premier League, Arsenal lost 2-3 at home to Manchester United. After the match, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta spoke to Viaplay.
Manager, let’s start with your immediate analysis of the match. Why did it end up this way?
First, we must acknowledge Manchester United’s performance. Conceding three goals in a single game is not typical for us. The first goal was entirely our own mistake—we handed it to them. Then they changed the course of the match through two moments of exceptional individual quality. Additionally, during the first 30 minutes, we played almost exactly as we wanted—completely in control and even scored a goal. In that period, we were fully in the game and performed very strongly. But afterward, we started giving the ball away too easily, and against a team that is currently extremely effective on the counterattack, once the pitch opens up, they become very dangerous. We were forced to drop back and reorganize.
We then made adjustments, trying to shift the rhythm of the match, and successfully scored our second goal. But immediately after, in the following phase, we had a one-on-one situation inside the box and got nothing out of it. Right after that, their goalkeeper launched a long ball, and they capitalized on the opportunity—Cunha produced an absolutely brilliant moment to make it 3-2, which completely erased the momentum we had just rebuilt and could have used to fight for a win again.
After leveling the score at 2-2, you had brought yourselves back into the match. From that perspective, is the most disappointing part perhaps not even securing a single point?
Yes. Because at that moment, we had successfully turned the tide of the match. We controlled the momentum and put them under real pressure. Psychologically, that was a very difficult moment for them. If we could have maintained that intensity for just a few more minutes, we would have started creating chances again and truly dominated in the areas where we wanted to take control. But instead, they opted for a more direct approach—using long balls to maintain structure—and we lost the aerial duel. Cunha received the ball around the edge of the box and finished with a truly spectacular goal.
This week featured a very congested schedule—you had just secured an important Champions League victory away at San Siro, and then came back to play this league match. Could this be explained by a lack of energy or physical fatigue?
No, we don’t want to make any excuses. What matters now is standing by our players, who deserve enormous credit. Everything we’ve achieved this season is thanks to their efforts. So the responsibility now lies with me—I need to ensure they recover properly. But this is simply part of the journey. If you want to win titles, you have to go through moments like these. And we’ve already shown just how competitive and excellent we are.

Dis coach is a Mumu Man abeg. he didn't take his priorities right and that's why he fielded a strong team against inter milan instead of resting his players. Arsenal won't and can't win d EPL whether dey use magic or not especially not wit dis coach and pattern.
I sense hate here dude do you watch football

Arsenal that is a call up for the manager to work’s up you have a big squad you can’t always play same team over and over again zub , Timber and Rice they need a break sometimes arsenal power it’s in the middle fielder some game play noodegade , rice and Eze or oodeg and some game zub , merino and Eze or oodeg they need break in the middle of the week also not like playing them every game arsenal we have good team that can win more trophies this season only if the manager use his players well

arteta seems running out of ideas how to score from open play and relying on their set pieces to get a goal
i wonder o,a team that want to win the league will not relying heavily on set pieces goal.they should be firing from all cylinder set pieces should only be a plus not a priority.its now clear, arsenal weakness is scoring from open play.they need to to do better.

I really thought they'd be champions this season but after that game I'm now almost certain they'll bottle it this season and won't ever win the league with Arteta as manager. You're right, he plays a small club game when they get in front
Arsenal will carry league, Man city are not consistent this season and they are the only team that can challenge Arsenal for league this season.

They were ordinary in both games against United this season, but for a goal that should have been disallowed at Old Trafford they would have got a point at most though had United taken their chances it would have been more

I am not always impress with your defensive approach bcos in modern game you hv to accept mass defence and mass attack. Not when you're leading to stop attacking looking for chances, your must continue attacking to create those chances. Moreover, you hv to stop fielding player (s) that are not inform typical explame odegard, eze should start that game. Arteta, you must improve your approach if you want silverwares. Goodluck

Arsenal are playing too much soft ball, They are fearing a red card, If I was me in pitch yesterday!,Cunha could not score the goal on that situation 😞

Arsenal should start scoring goals from open play. They badly depend on corners and set pieces. If there were no corners Arsenal would have been plying in division 5.

I don't even know what to say to Arsenal.... they're the weakest team to be lucky to win the league in EPL history.... they're currently in the first position because teams like Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool form have been fluctuating this season

playing more backpasses. by saliba, maghares, zubmend and failure to supply balls to strikers will cost the team another year without a trophy...why bench on form matinel? why not bench off form ordgard, why not advise yr wingers to pass the ball? tired of unnecessary excuses all yr players play boggy football apart fm saka and Timber
