Arsenal transfer news: The Gunners are expected to be busy in the summer market with Mikel Arteta wanting to make four key additions
Mikel Arteta has been told by former Arsenal defender Johan Djourou to sign his own version of Jack Grealish to help the competition for places in the squad. The Gunners look to be focusing on defensive additions in the summer transfer window with a new central defender and right back two priority positions they want to fill.
Some of the names expected to be on their short list of options in those two roles includes Marc Guehi, Edmond Tapsoba, Mohamed Simakan and Ivan Fresneda. Arsenal's lack of depth at the back was brutally exposed by injuries to William Saliba, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Oleksandr Zinchenko which saw Arteta shuffle his back four.
The final few weeks of the season saw central midfielder Thomas Partey at right-back, Ben White moved inside to partner Gabriel Magalhaes and Jakub Kiwior moved to left-back. Clearly, these necessary changes impacted Arsenal's failed Premier League title bid which explains why Arteta is desperate for more additions.
On paper, Arsenal's attacking depth appears strong with the first-choice front four of Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard supported by a squad option. Eddie Nketiah is there for Jesus, Reiss Nelson for Saka, Leandro Trossard was also frequently rotated with Martinelli while Fabio Vieira and Emile Smith Rowe are ready to support Martin Odegaard and also fill the advanced eight role that has become Granit Xhaka's.
Speaking to MyBettingSites.co.uk, he said: "For me, competition is the be-all and end-all, so I would welcome a new arrival in that position (when asked about Arsenal's interest in Moussa Diaby).
"Just look at Manchester City: at the moment, top players like Phil Foden or Riyad Mahrez are always on the bench, while Jack Grealish is an integral part of the starting XI because he performs really well.
"A well-balanced squad is eminently important to strengthen the cohesion and to make sure that every player questions himself again and again. Arsenal need a bit more quality and experience so that nobody feels too comfortable."
The Gunners reignited their interest to sign Diaby in the January transfer window before ultimately moving on to Trossard. A few months ago, Arsenal were told by German journalist Patrick Berger, that a summer move is more likely for the Bayer Leverkusen winger and the Gunners would be looking at paying "€75million (£68million) plus huge bonuses."

I can see the ambition now, but we have to show more this summer and next season to convince them we are a serious club.
Exactly, we had a chance this season but we threw it away, hopefully we sign some deadly players next season

Ofcos, every player wants to win trophies won't blame them cos we're not ambitious enough

Fr bro. Saka apparently wanted to have a release clause in his new Arsenal contract. Signs that they won't stay loyal forever depending on our situation.

Yh bro, we need to step up next season and try to win a trophy, else players like Saka might want to leave to win elsewhere

Yeah. Diaby would be as pacey as Nelson. Martinelli is a little faster than Saka.

Trossard isn't that pacey, Saka also has a tough time out running defenders 1 v 1 which is why I'd take Diaby, his pace is similar to that of Vini... And I think it'll help us more in counter attacking situations

Saka, Martinelli, Trossard and Nelson are already very direct, it woudn't hurt to have a different profile of winger. But Diaby will be great as well even for 60m.

Olise doesn't seem explosive enough for me tho, but he's technically good, but I think Diably would be a better fit for UCL, 60 mil is okay for him I think, and he's comfortable playing both left or right wing, wanted us signing him since last season actually

Damn, better go for Olise then. But then again we were willing to pay £88m for Mudryk so we could pay £60m for Diaby as well. But we have other priorities for now. If Diaby was cheaper than Nelson being 2nd choice RW again next season would be less appealing to me.

Not really sure, but nothing less than 60mil pounds is what I've been seeing, some reports say 75mil

A peace of advice Arteta , it's not all about signing players ,it's bringing the best out of them, you can still use the players you have to win trophies... you took 2 of our players this season and now you wonna take Grealish,Gundogan, cancello . sah!! is that not selfishness....by the way you çant get anymore of players. they'll remain at man city except for cancello that we'll prefer giving him to barça for a swap deal

My problem with Diaby is that he doesn't track back. He's of no use when trying to play defensive unlike Saka.

I do want a better Saka back-up than Nelson, who is explosive coming off the bench but doesn't perform as well when he starts. But yeah a clinical no.9 is a bigger priority.

Thought they were talk about grealish, Smith Rowe is a grealish kind of player... And I think we need a good top 9 instead of a RW, cos honestly Jesus is not clinical enough, Nelson can be backup to Saka if he stays

Arsenal want to build their own Man Man City and using Arteta as their own chip.
Right. That’s what I was thinking. Everything they do is like copying man city

But we need a back-up RW and Diaby is one. Smith Rowe is a CAM.

Be patient! He is young, came into a new country and the most physical and fastest League in the World. Many did not remember that he did not have a pre-season with Arsenal in Summer. No one should write off a young player after just one season. No!
Don't mind him Viera still had up to 10 goals contribution this season
