Arsenal’s summer transfer window plans are reportedly set to be reliant on the departures of seven members of Mikel Arteta ’s squad.
After a disappointing Premier League campaign which has left them clinging on to a spot in the top-half, the Gunners are expected to be active in the market.
But with several members of Arteta’s squad not up to the standards required, an exodus could be on the cards as the Spaniard seeks to rebuild his team.
The Gunners are reported to be prioritising an attacking midfielder, right-back and a left-back this summer, with a new striker also being sought after a tough season for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
But though Arteta plans bring in several new players, he could be limited by how much money the club is able to bring in through sales.
The Athletic report that the Gunners’ plans will be heavily affected by the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, with many sides suffering financially.
But the news website also states that they expect to be able to raise a significant amount of funds through the departures of seven players.
They claim that David Luiz, Dani Ceballos, Mat Ryan, Hector Bellerin, Reiss Nelson, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi are all heading for the Arsenal exit door.
Luiz has been one of Arteta’s more reliable options at the back, though he has failed to make the last six matchday squads.
The Brazilian’s contract expires in June and with Rob Holding, Pablo Mari, and Gabriel ahead of him in the pecking order, he is unlikely to be given a new deal.
Meanwhile, Ceballos and Ryan will return to their parent clubs of Real Madrid and Brighton upon the end of their loan deals, saving Arsenal money in wages.
Bellerin has fallen out of favour under Arteta, with Calum Chambers taking his spot as the first choice right-back.
The Gunners are reportedly willing to let Bellerin depart this summer, with Barcelona and PSG both linked with a move.
Nelson is another who has failed to break into Arteta’s plans, making just two appearances in the Premier League this campaign.
With other options ahead of him, the Gunners can bring in a relatively sizeable fee as he still has two years left on his contract.
Torreira meanwhile appeared set to become a regular feature of Arsenal’s midfield when moved to the club, but has spent this season on loan at Atletico Madrid.
The Uruguayan has also recently demanded he be allowed to move to Boca Juniors to be closer to his family.
Guendouzi has also spent this season out on loan, with the midfielder turning out for Hertha Berlin this term.
The Frenchman has a troubled relationship with Arteta and would appear to be surplus to requirements.

He should be the one exiting for good. It is only the enemies of Arsenal that praise him so thst he stays so that their tesms beat his again and again. What is the problem with the club to sign proven winners exept Morinho who has flopped.

Arsenal must always find one or two reasons not to buy world class players, is either the effect of Corona virus pandemic, so much wages on a certain player or one filthy excuse or the other. One thing they need to understand is that if a European competition is not guaranteed no matter how much you put on the market you can't get the big names coming to your team. You can't shoot yourself on the leg to run a race.

the real question for me is why a player would come to arsenal...whats the brand now? europa and FA Cup? top4 no way we are out of that and as liverpool fans will know - its a sea change to get back...teams simply get better and its not like we are 5th ... we are 8th best of days youth development is best strategy now...try and get 18-22yr olds and give em a solid few seasons in team B and cup games. artetas learning the craft ...ok with him taking a few more years but he has to stand for some Plan A - right now his results to me look the same as under Unai ... few players turn up we win else its a miserable watch

Bissouma, and Saliba to fill in the gaps. Get Buendia as Smith Rowe back up, either Lamptey or Hakimi, and Cedric&chambers are still there as back up, then Firpo to challenge Tierney, CD still consist of Mari, Gabriel, mavropanos, Saliba and Holding.

I agreed with this but Nelson can stl turn it on, we should rather sell the likes of Niles, Willock and Terminate Willian contract instead of selling Nelson and Guendouzi. Had it been Arsenal can afford to spend heavily, the preferred 11 should be..... Oblak, Lamptey/Hakimi, Tierney/Firpo, Mari, Saliba, Partey, Bissouma, Smith Rowe/Buendia/Aouar, Saka, Pepe/Martinelli, Eduard/Lacazete. Then a very strong sub like mancity out of the current squad

Lopez should be getting opportunities now when Tierney is injured but the manager doesn't open up to academy players
That's the thing, the manager is just focusing on old players. He must develop the youth. I hope the will all be promoted next season.

Some more of these "stars" should be heading for the exit. Now that Balogun has signed, Nketiah is free to choose his next club. Willian is always welcomed to leave, he could still be of use to some Serie A clubs. Could even replace Leno this summer with someone like a Nick Pope or Donnarumma. Time to move on from Xhaka and Elneny, and finally either one of Auba or Laca. These "big names" have let us down when we needed them the most this season.
Right. Elneny, Xhaka, & Either of Laca or Auba. Willian for one more season will stay to see out his contract. So a exodus of 10 players.

David Luiz - A contract extension would be ideal but if we lose him, we need to sign another experienced defender. Dani Ceballos - Send him back to Madrid. Mat Ryan - Could potentially be our no. 2 FROM next season. Brighton would accept as less as £5 million for him. Hector Bellerín - The sooner we get rid of him the better. Reiss Nelson - Fallen massively down the pecking order. Could be sold but I guess a loan would be better. Lucas Torreira - Book a flight for Boca Juniors as soon as he returns from his loan spell. He clearly doesn't want to stay. Matteo Guendouzi - Shame that a "head" problem hindered his future with us. Either one of him or Willock can face the exit door.
