Liverpool midfielder Arthur Melo is reportedly set to leave the club in May and return to his parent club Juventus after his disastrous loan spell.
The 26-year-old only joined the Reds on deadline day in the summer, when he agreed a season-long loan deal from the Serie A giants as boss Jurgen Klopp looked to bolster his midfield and solve an ongoing injury crisis.
Liverpool paid £3million to secure the loan deal, which included an option to buy the midfielder permanently for £33million.
That option, however, is not expected to be taken up at the end of the season by the Reds, according to Goal.
It has not worked out how either party would have liked with the Brazilian only mustering up 13 minutes of football since the move due to injury, adding to Klopp's injury woes, rather than solving them.
His sole appearance came in the Champions League when he came off the bench against Napoli in a 4-1 defeat back in September.
Melo tore a quad muscle in October shortly after arriving at Anfield, as he was putting in extra training to improve his fitness to stake a claim for a place in the first-team squad.
The Brazilian missed pre-season with his future up in the air so had been determined to get up to speed for Reds boss Klopp however the thigh tear and subsequent surgery ruled him out for three months.
The former Barcelona midfielder is edging closer to a return with an expected return towards the end of January after doing some recovery work back home in Brazil during the 2022 World Cup break.
It has been a tough period in Melo's career and he even reflected on his eventful 2022 by sharing his thoughts on Instagram.
Melo posted: '2022 the hardest year of my life! A complicated football year, with many injuries, many criticisms that I had to listen silently, without at least having the opportunity to expose the truth, what was really happening, many sleepless nights because of physical pain, many days inside from the hospital, the anguish of waiting for the medical report in hope that it wasn't something that could prevent me from doing what I love most, playing football.
'The year in which I took the most development as a football player to achieve my goals. 2022 was the year I dedicated the most off the field, trained the most, tried the most and was the year I had the most problems on the field.
'A year with a lot of emotional turbulence in my personal life, a year that the more I fought, the more things went off track! And the most important thing... 2022 was the year I grew the most as a person, as a son, as a boyfriend, as a friend, as an athlete!
'I just have to thank for the year 2022, for all the learnings, a difficult year, a difficult phase. But it was a year that taught me a lot of lessons and that I will carry to the next years of my life. Thank you 2022 and bring on 2023! Be Strong, Have Faith.'

max former Barca players are flops, even Messi managed to register only 6 goals in possibly one of the worst leagues till date.
Arthur was never a flop at Barca. he was only a victim of a bad board management.

Arthur is slowly getting wiped off the football stage, 2023 should be a defining year for him or else his European football adventure dream will collapse, the moment he left Barcelona it was evident there was something underneath the departure which was not being said officially. He should reflect seriously on his behaviour and conduct outside the football ground, what he eats, drinks and the way he socialises. It contributes a lot to how he manages his football career, many players overlook this aspect of their lives. He's now 26yrs and definitely not in the future football plans of any Brazilian manager taking over from Tite.
