Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba got the goals as Manchester United won 2-0 against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup.
Match Events
11' NICE SHOT! Luiz's free kick saved
DOUBLE SAVE! Great work by Romero, who finds himself deputising once again for De Gea as United's FA Cup goalkeeper. First he's able to dive across to his left to parry a lovely David Luiz free-kick that was bending and swerving all over the place, before smartly recovering to deny Pedro's fierce effort on the rebound!
17' CLOSE! Higuain's header wide out
HAS TO BE BETTER! Azpilicueta floats in a wonderful cross from the right and Higuain isn't picked up by the United defence as he flies in to meet it, but gets his header all wrong as he guides an effort wide of the near post! You would expect him to at least be working the keeper from there!
31'GOAL! Chelsea 0-1 Man Utd (Herrera)
UNITED PROVIDE THE BREAKTHROUGH! 1-0! It's far too easy for the Red Devils as Pogba is allowed far too much space on the left to swing in a cross, picking out Herrera who ghosts in unmarked at the far post to head home!
45'GOAL! Chelsea 0-2 Man Utd (Pogba)
A DAGGER BEFORE HALF-TIME! 2-0! Manchester United take the wind out of Chelsea's sails on the stroke of half-time as Pogba drives a fierce header just under Kepa on the end of a lovely delivery from Rashford! That was a venomous header from the Frenchman, but Kepa should be expected to keep that out.
Match Report
Manchester United provided a fine response to their Paris Saint-Germain defeat by beating Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge to secure a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
It was said Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's so-called honeymoon period as United interim manager was ended by the 2-0 Champions League loss to PSG, but his team bounced back excellently – the Norwegian getting his tactics spot on despite the injury-enforced absences of Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard.
Although Chelsea initially looked the brighter of the two sides, United gradually improved and were good value for the lead when Ander Herrera nodded in from close range in the 31st minute, and Paul Pogba – provider for the opener – made it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time.
In desperate need of a route back into the contest, Chelsea increased the intensity after half-time and generally controlled proceedings, but they could not find a way past the solid backline of a United side who find themselves two wins from the final.

From the perspective of a Chelsea fan, I would firstly like to praise Man United. They were absolutely brilliant attacking and defending, they did their job, and deserved the win away from home. Absolutely everybody deserves praise and Solskjaer has turned the team around. As for us, it's not looking good. We didn't play bad today, definitely not as bad as against City, but we didn't play well enough. Sarri-ball doesn't seem to be working, we really need to start working on the basics. It honestly scares me how much our defence has been leaking goals left, right and centre. We were absolutely breathed of creativity. I'm not going to say that our performances were disgusting, but, at Stamford Bridge, we should be doing better. I feel sorry for Hazard, him and Higuain were the ones really trying to create something from this match. He's probably just praying for Real Madrid to come[Cry] Sorry for the paragraph, I just wanted to voice my opinion on the matter.

Watching the game, I've changed my stance on Sarri. I originally thought it might be fixed by backing but Sarri is not the right man for my club. His mentality is poor, his in game management is non existent, team selection is abysmal and most of all he is so predictable with his substitutes. If I'm honest, it feels like he just wants to get fired. Surely he knows that he is failing yet is being stubborn, that's the sign of someone who has given up on the club. Club need to bring in Zidane and give him 300 million even instead of 200 that he wants. Maybe he will get Hazard to stay too out of respect for him. Sarri just doesnt have the mentality for Chelsea FC, his skill and mental prowess matches the players.

We played without Jesse and Anthony, If they were in we would have scored up to 4 goals

Thank God we managed to get Kante to sign a 5 year deal. He was the only positive I could see in that game. Literally the only one. I think Sarri sacking is imminent. He is digging his own grave with his tactical inflexibility and poor in game management.

1. Sergio Romero's record for Man Utdin the #FACup 🔴 11 games 🔴 9 clean sheets 🔴 2 goals conceded He only had to make two saves tonight. 2. Paul Pogba has been directly involved in 15 goals in 12 games in all competitions under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (9 goals, 6 assists), six more than he managed in 20 games under Jose Mourinho this season 3. GGMU!!!!

Does anyone even care about this win??? Man Utd has no chance against Man City and Liverpool if they make it to the semis or final. And why didn’t Pogba do this against PSG???

Instead of 4;3:3 why this fucking sarri should try 3 cb that will be permanent .....when in possession they attack in 5 which means kovavcic barkley hazard willian and higuain will attack .....when defending jorginho and kante draw back to defense ...making it 5 defender .....and sarri players should learn how to be aggressive when defending .... if you want to play defensive game ....instead of Barkley and kovacic you will use right back and left back like Emerson and zappacosta that knowa how to implement pass , attack and defend at the same time ...David Luis and Christiansen wont have problem if they both cover for right and left back cause jorginho and Kane will draw back to defense to support rudiger when the ball is out of possession
