Ander Herrera is set to commit his long-term future to Manchester United after finding his feet under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The 29-year-old is expected to sign a new three-year deal worth £100,000 a week after talks over signing a new contract has an upturn in recent weeks, according to The Sun.
Sportsmail reported earlier this month that the Spaniard was close to signing a new contract at the club having re-established himself as a first-choice starter alongside Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.
Hererra, who's current deal at Old Trafford expires this summer, looked like he'd leave the club when talks stalled before Solskjaer replace Jose Mourinho.
A source told the Sun: 'Ander is now ready to stay here after talks have been slow originally.
'The club have made it clear to him they want him to stay. They don't want him walking away on a free.
'He has a young family and is settled in the area. Ander is also really popular with the fans.
'It won't be too far different to the wages and deal he is on now. Everything looks to be heading into the right direction.'
Herrera starred in United's 2-0 win over Chelsea on Monday night that saw Maurizio Sarri's men crash out of the FA Cup.
The Spaniard has been in terrific form and has been lauded by his manager.
'His energy and tenaciousness is vital for us,' Solskjaer said.
'And that's why he plays, more or less, every single game. He has loads of energy, he can cover the right hand side, he runs forward.
'Tonight you can't just praise one, it's 11 players, plus the subs, but Ander has done fantastic.'

One of those players who isn't demanding more money like crazy. He's more concerned about playing for the club than bagging a prodigious salary. Wishing you the best Herrera.

I think he is worth at least 200k... that 100k is just pure insult... he does all the dirty work in the field... and he gets less than 100k while Jones plays like crap and gets 150k+.... lukaku with his all wastefulness is getting 250k+.... that's unfairness....

Slowly looking more & more like the new Roy Keane. His header and performance v Chelsea on Monday was a replica of Keane's v Juventus in 1999.

Rashford get a little form and is getting £150k a week... meanwhile Herrera who has been vital and consistent for us over the years gets just £100k? England will always support their own more
