Manchester United's top-four ambitions are becoming increasingly bleak, despite having fought back from 2-0 down to draw with Southampton.
Match Events
Manchester United battled back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Southampton on Saturday in a match that will do little to ease the pressure on either Jose Mourinho or Mark Hughes.
The visitors were forced to line up with Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic in defence due to injuries and found themselves two goals down after only 20 minutes at St Mary's Stadium.
Romelu Lukaku got a goal back, his first in the Premier League since September, and Ander Herrera secured a point, but a top-four finish is beginning to look a tall order for Mourinho's men.
Hughes, who has been facing calls for the sack himself, has now failed to steer Saints to a win in eight consecutive games in all competitions.
13' GOAL! Southampton 1-0 Man Utd (Armstrong)
GOAL!! It's Armstrong again! Having notched a brace at Fulham last weekend, the midfielder makes it three in two with an unerring low drive into the bottom-left corner from a tough angle. Southampton lead 1-0.
20' GOAL! Southampton 2-0 Man Utd (Soares)
GOAL!! Southampton are flying! Cedric curls a wonderful free-kick beyond the outstretched De Gea and into the top-left corner to double his side's advantage. United have work to do at 2-0 down.
33' GOAL! Southampton 2-1 Man Utd (Lukaku)
GOAL! Rashford wins the ball back in a good area, slips a pass through Stephens' legs and Lukaku buries the finish in a one-on-one. Southampton's lead is trimmed. 2-1.
39' GOAL! Southampton 2-2 Man Utd (Herrera)
GOAL!! United are back on level terms! Rashford turns Vestergaard, speeds to the byline and is allowed to drag a cut-back into the path of the onrushing Herrera, who produces a classy flicked finish at close range. All of a sudden it's 2-2 at St Mary's.
52' Fellaini heads the ball wide of the near post!
Fellaini flashes a header wide of the near post from skipper Young's right-sided free-kick.

United are a joke club now. Their fans find comfort in calling wins against bottom sides "comebacks" when in reality they never should have been in that situation. Embarrassment of the prem since SAF left. Absolutely mind boggling to see a team go from the best in the prem to being a laughing stock. And what's worse is that u still find United fans defending this crap. In that situation I would put my hands up and admit we become a mediocre club and need direction. Absolutely pathetic to be 2 goals down to terrible sides and rejoice in a few lucky wins...... Spineless club now, even bottom table doesn't fear them and play openly against them.... How the mighty have fallen....

Did you know? 🙋♂️ 1. Romelu Lukaku's strike vs Southampton has ended a run of 12 games and 981 minutes without a goal for Manchester United in all competitions since netting against Watford in September. 2. Marcus Rashford has provided two assists in a single game in all comps for Man Utd for just the second time in his career (also vs Crystal Palace in September 2017).

Manchester United fans and former players are champions of comparison as that's the only thing we have left. Compare what Sir Alex Ferguson would have done in every game we play. Compare what style we would have played had he still been here. Compare where in the log we would have been was he still in charge. Compare Mourinho to a new coach if and when he is sacked. The reality though is Man United is what it is and no amount of wishing and comparisons will change that state of affairs. A sober analysis and approach to the the core problems of the club and practical solutions prescribed will bring back the glory days and not emotion or sentiments.

Some stats abt Southampton players🧐: 1. Stuart Armstrong has scored with each of his last three shots in the Premier League, having failed to net with any of his first four shots in the competition. 2. Cedric Soares is the seventh player to score a direct free-kick for Southampton in the Premier League and first since James Ward-Prowse vs West Brom in February 2018

This horrible criticism is because my team once enjoyed great success for at least a quarter decade and now it's not producing the same results now. Let's give them some time brothers, it's our team they need us in tough situations like this. #GGMU Win,Draw or Lose Manchester United till I die.
