The Real Madrid striker will miss two weeks with a hamstring injury sustained against Alavés as Julen Lopetegui's problems continue to mount.

Real Madrid have issued an update on Karim Benzema and say in the statement that he has a hamstring injury. They have not given a timeframe for his recovery but the same injury generally take two weeks to heal.

"Following tests carried out today on our player Karim Benzema by the Real Madrid Sanitas medical team, he has been diagnosed with an injury to his right hamstring. His recovery will continue to be assessed," the statement said.

Benzema went off at half-time of the eventual loss to Alavés at the weekend. With Benzema out and fears over Garteh Bale's fitness despite the fact that he went on international duty with Wales, Julen Lopetegui will be expecting other players to step in with Marcelo and Isco also out injured along with Dani Carvajal.

Real Madrid play Levante after the break and then Barcelona with Lopetegui's job potentially on the line in that game at the Camp Nou.
