The Red Devils were held 1-1 draw by the promoted side on Saturday, and their manager blamed their attackers for a lack of creativity
Jose Mourinho was unhappy with his team's attitude and also pointed the finger at his attacking players after Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Wolves.
In front of former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who was back at Old Trafford for the first time since suffering a brain haemorrhage in May , United produced a disappointing performance and Wolves left with a deserved point.
Fred gave the hosts the lead against the run of play in the 18th minute , but Joao Moutinho brought Wolves back on level terms early in the second period with a fine finish.
Clear-cut chances were hard to come by for United thereafter, and Mourinho was angered by the displays from the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Jesse Lingard and Alexis Sanchez.
"I think it's a fair result," Mourinho told Premier League Productions. "They deserve the point and I think we deserve the punishment of only one point.
"They started better, more aggressive, more intense. I don't know why, but they were more motivated and for 10, 15 minutes they showed the good team they are and were in control.
"We had a slow start in the second and they scored, then they defended with a lot of people.
"Honestly, I was expecting more from my attacking players. [There was] not enough creativity, movement, dynamism, so we made it quite easy for them to cope with our supremacy.
"Then we tried to go direct and cause some problems, but overall we don't deserve more than this.
"[The performance] surprised me. You can see the way we conceded, the ball was lost in midfield. They [Wolves] were fresh as they didn't play in midweek. We know how Moutinho and [Ruben] Neves play, they don't give us much time to play. But honestly, our performance wasn't consistent, dynamic, creative."
Reflecting further on United’s attitude, Mourinho said: “I think Wolves, by the way they faced the game, they deserve it because they play like I like to play, which is like the World Cup final.
“That’s the attitude that I like my teams to have every match, and we didn’t have that. They had, we didn’t.
“The attitude made the difference. They were in the game since the first minute, they played every ball, every second in the maximum of their intensity, their desire, and we didn’t.
“This is something you learn as a kid in the academy. You don’t need to have experiences at the highest level to learn that. That’s a basic law of football, you have to play with the maximum of your potential, with the maximum of your focus. Unless you are playing in such a weak league where you play against really weak opponents and then playing 20 per cent of potential is enough to win. That’s not the case, and we all know that.
Mourinho introduced Juan Mata, Anthony Martial and Andreas Pereira from the bench in the final half-an-hour and all looked sharp, but the manager was in no mood to praise them.
"When they came on the score was the same, it didn't change anything for the better," Mourinho said of his substitutes.
"The improvement [towards the end] is natural, for home team to go stronger in last part of the game, but I think our attacking players weren't creative enough."

Why can't we view it from another angle that Wolves are a good team? Is it not the same Wolverhampton that recently drew with great Pep's Man city? Man United should not see this draw as the disaster. Other teams are also entitled to winning.

i think if Mourinho get the best 11 players in the world, he still wouldn't win because of his negative tactics, parking the bus and when he doesn't win he throws them under the bus, blaming them and not taking responsibility for himself, he's all about himself and winning at all cost just to look good

Sunches better off from starting line up.better give Ashley Young or Marthial chance to line up on that that left wing Sunches is wasting lot of chances highest pid player in the premier league .Jose Mourhino must start trusting in he's players and communicate with the players.every game is just same players

Mourinho's was spot on in his break down on the game. Wolves played well and are no push over for any team in the League. Our front three did not pose any problems for Wolves. Romelu for me should have been benched, and replaced with either Martial or Sanchez . Of the substitutes, Pereira was outstanding. Anthony Martial and Mata did not contribute much towards change of play. Anthony Martial to me is a worry, his boy language tells us that his not prepared to work for that ball , there is definitely no hard yards put in by this man . He needs to be sold in January. .

Just sack this manager. he can never be consistent in his wins, he always has good words to drop after each disappointment. Getting him off United now is better or have future disappointment from him. Chelsea was an example. He had baily, dalot he hymped after UCL debut, but could not pair them with smalling and shaw, but keeps making silly mistakes by featuring lindelof who is not letal in defence, and can be easily displaced. MAN UTD SHOULD DO SOMETHING NOW OR FACE THE ROT

Mourinho still finding an escape root. Because Wolves didn't played in Midweek so they were fresh... forgetting to know that most of the big that played in midweek also played as well and got a win. "They [Wolves] were fresh as they didn't play in midweek". Common!! stopped making flamsy excuses...

People are acting as of Jose is playing on the field, like seriously can't you see these players are all hype players. Bunch of overpaid clowns who know they'll collect their cheque at the end of the week so they don't need to put in a 100% shift. Apart from Lukaku, the United forwards are awful. The midfield is so overrated, other than Matic, there's no actual midfielder that deserves the rep they have. Defence is played by donkeys. De Gea can't be blamed cos he has to play with donkeys. This team isn't even fit for top 4 under other managers, Jose dragged this finished teams rep back up and the fans repay him by saying it's his fault their team sucks. Well it's also his fault that United won a Europa and finished in their highest position since the retirement of SAF. How can a man win a champions league with Porto and Inter, come close to winning one with Chelsea, win premier league back to back yet not be able to get any significant trophies. Cos it's in the hand of the players to perform that's why, those other teams had fighters. This team has no fighters, they turned their own hobby into a full profession rather than it being both a hobby and profession. It's like the players lack the heart of a footballer and without heart you can't win trophies. Mou has heart, thats why he complains when they lose cos he feels the pain of the loss.

I honestly can't blame Mourinho for this game why, as he says our attack was poor. Mourinho isnt playing the football the guys he put out are. If martial started and it was still a draw everyone would say why didnt Alex started. The guys are playing poorly. Lukaku is not a top striker for me.

I don't know much...ooo. my problem is mourihol is statics of football is F9 seeing my great team manchester united playing a difficult game, no attack any more, no winning mentality any more because of mourihol. why will lingard start ahead of Martial, fellani, lingard deserved no start from Manchester united... he can play Sanchez and martial at both wing..he should try that, and lukaku need someone to compete with. what Manchester need is great and attacking coach... mourihol should just leave .....he doest have anything to offer Manchester united.. then to destroy us.

Man u will be difficult to win the league this season . Liverpool , Man city, Tottenham , Chelsea, Arsenal those big club they dont have problem, but Man utd maybe they have to replace the manager ,it will be different next year, because you have to win home game , this is the problem, and the big match coming soon Uefa at home.

I think the criticism jose mourinho is getting is seriously not fair “He has made Manchester united relevant again after a back to back champions league qualification which is not an easy tasks “He beat all of the top six last season other home o away , Spurs in the (FA Cup) semi-final, got to an FA Cup, which they probably should have won. “The League Cup final when they beat Southampton at the new Wembley. The Europa League final against Ajax he got it tactically right but why so much disrespect for the special one some even went to the extent of saying his methods are outdated after beating city Liverpool last season what do u mean by that I just feel the current players at united are not suitable for Jose mourinho's pattern . we all know this team can do better just like fellaini said today they just need to stick to their game plan and forget about what outsiders are saying . now we don't have option than to support our coach hoping things will get better o until the management decide to sack him o keep him and bring in a new manager

On point, if only united fans will be fair in their judgment. It was clear that Lukaku and Pogba did absolutely nothing. Why not sell him or better still sack Jose, for what I'm seeing Pogba is not willing whatsoever to did good for Jose, so I think sacking Jose will be the best option if Pogba can't be sold. This "player power" in the team will not do us anything good.

in my opinion, the problem is less from Jose but more of the boys.we all we know the record of most of the players sign in there previous club.sanchez lukaku And co.why are they not performing as they are known for.even the old man u players.is like they lost there football brains.people say martial to replace Sanchez Don't be surprised he will fuck up too.the thing is that may be they got a problem within them...any one who see that line up will congrats Jose .but they fuck up

Player's attitude, approach and desire to win games matters a lot , this are the things you learn in academy , at the first team , a player need not be told or reminded that by coach . In the words of JM , there were no movement and intensity by front players , i keep saying it, Lukaku need to shed extra pounds to give that sharpness to turn opponent's defense inside out , he was very poor today , Sanchez still can't click , went missing throughout the game . Inconsistency can't win you the title. Mourinho has nothing to be slated for about this game , except his public criticism of players poor performance.

Lukaku is useless. He doesn't run and is not able to convert chances when he gets them. We should get a high profile full fledged striker like Bale or something. Sanchez is more of a assist giver. We cannot depend on Lukaku. Rashford and Martial don't get a lot of playing time. Even when they play they aren't at their best and we are in such a situation that we can't give them starting XI spots expecting them to improve!
