Raphael Varane is considering a summer exit from Real Madrid in search of a new challenge elsewhere, reports French daily L’Equipe.
During his time at Madrid the French centre back has won 16 trophies, including two LaLiga and four Champions League titles, and last summer added a World Cup winner's medal to his long list of club honours.
According to L’Equipe, his decision to consider leaving the Bernabéu has nothing to do with Real Madrid’s poor season or the return of Zinedine Zidane, for whom he would be an indisputable starter.
The French media source claims Varane's only motivation is a desire “to challenge himself again” at a new club, with Manchester United reportedly a long-time admirer of the World Cup winner.
Varane joined Real Madrid in 2011 from Ligue 1 club Lille for 10 million euros. At the beginning of last season, the 25-year-old renewed his contract with Madrid until 2022, with the club setting his buyout clause at 500 million euros.
It is likely Madrid would be reluctant to let go of the Frenchman, who, at 80 million euros, is currently the most valuable defender in the world on website Transfermarkt.com.

As far as United is concerned, we are no longer surprised at his decision towards considering an exit away from Madrid for new challenge. He's looking for another contract with salary increment with Madrid. We've seen it before in Sergio Ramos, Umtiti etc when they used rumor of exit to get better bumper deals with their current clubs.

hmmm, this shows that it's really not easy to stay motivated in a single team for long especially when u have won it all with that club, no doubt many players always move now and then for new motivations, this make me to hail one club players who don't only resist the temptation of better offers be it economic or otherwise but stay in their childhood club for long time or for the entirety of their playing career and still perform at a very high and competitive level, managing to create or renew by themselves a new challenge everytime in that same club with the constant chances and ups & downs be it with the coming or leaving of new and old players/coaches respectively, which in tails a challenge on its own to adapt to either the new players or coaches or cope with the heartbreak of losing some keys over the years who were mainstays in the team and created a great bond amongst themselves. I think we should congratulate one club players (the tottis, giggs,maldini, xavi, iniesta etc)
