On July 1, in a pre-arranged contractual agreement, the World Cup winner's minimum release clause will drop from €200m to €120m.
Antoine Griezmann is likely to be one of the main transfer stories of the summer with links to Barcelona and other European big spenders resurfacing in the wake of Atlético’s season effectively ending in March.
The 27-year-old World Cup winner was reportedly close to a move to Camp Nou last summer but elected in the end to remain at Atlético, signing a new deal running until 2023 with a minimum release clause of 200 million euros.
However, Griezmann managed to insert a clause of his own into the deal that will see that amount drop to 120 million euros on July 1 – a far more attractive number for potential suitors.
Atlético may seek to beat clause with early Griezmann sale
Atlético’s defeat against Juventus from a 2-0 advantage after the opening leg and the loss in San Mamés last weekend, which left Diego Simeone’s side 10 points adrift of Barcelona in LaLiga, has hit morale at the Metropolitano and it is likely that several key players will be on their way this summer, club captain and Griezmann’s close friend Diego Godín among them.
As well as Barcelona’s long-standing interest in the 27-year-old, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United are likely to become involved in the bidding if the player decides to leave and Atlético are willing to listen to offers. If it appears certain that Griezmann has set his heart on a change of scenery, Atlético will likely attempt to spark an auction as soon as the season ends to sell the France forward before July 1.

Not surprised!!! he is Atletico best player, the coach loves him, then trying to bring in some good players , there is o reason for him to leave, griezmann should stay at atletico he is a star there, he has scored goals and he is the fans best player, he will just go to PSG and be overshadowed by mbappe or neymar, I wish him luck.

Godin transfer was already on cards even before this horrible week so don’t link it with our recent dip in form. I was enthusiastic last year for Greizmann stay but for now, it seems that instead of splashing huge money for his salary we could get some new faces and establish them. Like, what was Greizman before Atleti?? He was developed here. Similarly, Oblak got prominence at Atleti. Even De gea and Coutios turned to there current star status at Atleti. Aguero, Costa, Falcao got prominence here. So I believe instead of going extremely tight on salary scale, we should go and look for young talent and pair them with Costa.

Hey guys, griezmann is playing in defensive strategy in both france and atletico madrid...it results to the lesser scoring... he could play more iff he plays in a attacking team.. so,just leave ur ideas behind this fact..

He spoke about greater project with Athletico Madrid last season and got knocked out by Juve in UCL. Most exciting thing is they were unable to take advantage of 2-0 lead😂😂😂 And now he`s hoping to move away from AM

he has not been performing well. I feel he is over rated! How many goals has he scored this season? He is just a regular player like author, martial and the rest he is not even that good. thank God Barcelona didn't waste money on him
