Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was on the receiving end of boos and whistles from Real Madrid supporters when he was substituted after dazzling on his El Clasico debut for Barcelona on Sunday.
The 32-year-old scored twice at the Bernabeu, and provided an assist for Ferran Torres as Barcelona hammered their bitter rivals 4-0.
This took his tally to seven league goals in seven games since joining the Catalan giants from Arsenal at the end of January.
He may have fancied his chances of a hat-trick, but Xavi opted to take him off in the 71st minute with the result already wrapped up.
As the forward strolled off the pitch, he was greeted by a cacophony of noise from the home fans, who were clearly irritated by how well Aubameyang had played.
Aubameyang did not appear to be too concerned by the fans' reaction as he embraced Xavi on the touchline following a stunning individual performance.
He also took to Twitter after the match to poke fun at his critics by posting the message: 'Hello from the finished player,' along with an image of him celebrating one of his goals.
The reception that Aubayemang received was in stark contrast to the one that Ronaldinho earned from the Bernabeu crowd back in 2005.
17 years ago, the Brazilian playmaker also netted a brace against Los Blancos during a 3-0 win for Barcelona.
However, on that occasion, those in attendance were so mesmerised by Ronaldinho's display that they applauded him when he scored his second of the match.
This time around, the Real Madrid fans were in no mood to show their appreciation for an opposition player, having watched their side be taken apart by Aubameyang and his teammates on a humbling evening for Carlo Ancelotti's men in the Spanish capital.
