Borussia Dortmund president Reinhard Rauball has sympathy with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang having to deal with persistent transfer rumours.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has struggled with the mental strain of being linked to blockbusting transfers, according to Borussia Dortmund president Reinhard Rauball.
Gabon striker Aubameyang has previously been touted for a move from Signal Iduna Park to Real Madrid – speculation he has inflamed on more than one occasion – while the Bundesliga's top scorer in 2016-17 was a reported target for AC Milan and pondered a switch to the Chinese Super League during the last transfer window.
Despite mixed form for Dortmund overall this season and the departure of head coach Peter Bosz, the 28-year-old has starred again with 21 goals across 23 games in all competitions.
"He has done well over the years and was even the Bundesliga top scorer," Rauball told Kicker.
"Auba is pleasant, funny, he laughs. That some days he was mentally beaten by the offers – you have to understand it if you know the numbers."
Rauball was less sympathetic towards Ousmane Dembele's conduct before the France winger moved to Barcelona for an initial €105m in August.
"I liked Dembele and I really regret that he is not at our club anymore," he said of a player who went AWOL from Dortmund training in an attempt to force through his Barcelona transfer.
"Dembele has something sly. He has another mentality to which we are not used to."

impossible.. unless you have to sell 3 of ur strikers......cuz if u buy auba....u will wreck Oda strikers..
They should sell them because they are very useless.... it may be wrong but this is my point of view United were leading Man City with some clear points.... now City is leading with 13 to 14 points so my question is what went wrong???? we are just half way to go and our players are tired so which doesn't make sense at all and very hurting.... they don't feel at kind of hurt that we supporters get... we need a better team.. I don't see this United side a better team... check City they play to win and play from A to Z. Please we need players to compete...

We have been hearing rumours about Aubameyang to a bit everywhere for quite some time now and each time something gets in the way of the deal. Must be frustrating for both the club and the player

Him going to an European final with that Ajax team is one of the best achievements in Dutch football in decades.

I think what he means is that although it didn’t work out that doesn’t necessarily mean that it was a bad or unreasonable decision to make at the time.

On the same planet where the Netherlands failed to qualify for WC, Barca were 12th (3 points off relegation), Dortmund broke Bayern's domination of Germany and Man Utd finished outside CL spots

My opinion is that next season is his last chance, if he doesn't win the PL or the CL then he should leave. Tuchel would be a perfect fit.

You do know he also did finish 3rd with the Netherlands in the World Cup, won the league twice with Barcelona, won the Champions League with Ajax and reached the final again in the following year, reached another CL final with Bayern (and also won the Bundesliga), won the league with AZ Alkmaar (first time in 30 years that a team other than Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord has won the Eredivisie) and the FA cup with United? He's not mediocre. It's the opposite, he's one of the most successful managers of the modern era.

I like Bosz playstyle, it is very attractive and entertaining. But his teams play very naively, full on attacking, it is an all or nothing style. In Ajax's EL run his attacking style was surprising for a lot of opponents who expected a more conservative approach. Buy even then they had a lot of luck to reach the final, especially in matches against OL, Schalke and Kopenhagen.
