He is known as one of European football's fastest players, and Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang once again showed why in Arsenal training on Wednesday as he thrashed team-mate Lucas Perez in a race.

The pair were filmed in an Arsenal social media video taking part in a speed drill during training in Singapore, where they had to do press-ups before completing a short sprint.

Aubameyang was paired together with the unfortunate Lucas Perez, and recovered from a slow start to eventually outclass his opponent.

Other players that can be seen in the video include Sead Kolasinac, Rob Holding and new signing from Lorient Matteo Guendouzi.

Aubameyang has long had a reputation for being one of the Premier League's fastest players - and the stats very much back this up.

He clocked 34.99km/h last season - the joint 13th fastest in the division alongside team-mate Hector Bellerin.

Leroy Sane earned top spot in the table, with the Manchester City flyer reaching a highest speed of 35.48 km/h.

Crystal Palace's Patrick van Aanholt and Moussa Sissoko of Tottenham were second and third respectively.

Aubameyang, 29, has proven to be an instant success since his club-record £56million move from Borussia Dortmund in January, scoring 10 goals in 13 league appearances.

He and his Arsenal team-mates are currently honing their preparations for the International Champions Cup game against Atletico Madrid in Singapore on Thursday.

They then face Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday before playing London rivals Chelsea next Wednesday.

Their first game of the new Premier League season is at home against champions Manchester City on August 12.
