12' CLOSE! Baga's shot off the post
BATE survive a cross and go up the other end, hitting the post! Dragun passes inside to Baga, whose skimming shot rattles Kepa's left-hand post! So nearly for the Belarusians!
13' CHANCE! Dragun's header saved
Jorginho concedes a corner for BATE and now Chelsea have to clear the ball off the line after Dragun's header forces a save from Kepa! BATE could easily be a goal ahead already. They've started very brightly indeed.
52'GOAL! BATE 0-1 Chelsea (Giroud)
Jorginho's over-the-top pass is cut out but BATE can't clear and the Italy international gets another chance. Emerson quickly receives the ball and whips in a fantastic cross for Giroud, who heads the ball low past Scherbitski at his near post.
58' WHAT A CHANCE! Stasevich cracks the ball off the bar from 12 yards
BATE hit the post again! Dragun's shot from distance is blocked. The midfielder then finds Signevich in Chelsea's area and his shot bounces off Kepa's right post from close range. The striker holds his head but his distress is relieved by the knowledge that he was offside anyway.
Match Report
Olivier Giroud's first goal under Maurizio Sarri sealed Chelsea's progression to the Europa League knockout rounds with a 1-0 win at BATE on Wednesday.
France striker Giroud headed in Emerson Palmieri's cross in the 52nd minute to decide a tentative contest and break his club drought dating back to May.
BATE, who hit the woodwork three times, would have been deserving of a point, but will now seek to revive their hopes in their next meeting with Vidi, who edged PAOK 1-0.

We were terrible tonight. Even after controlling the tempo we only managed a 1 goal win. On the contrary Borisov were great, they easily deserved a draw tonight. It just goes to show that Europe should not be underestimated be it Europa or UCL all teams are in there for their pride and to win. Well played from Borisov, sluggish from us. Willian slows down play a lot, he's fantastic and can beat a man but if we're gonna play Sarriball we need speed, not long times on the ball. Also Odoi barely touched the ball, this kid needs a starr or to at least play like 20 mins. 9 mins isn't gonna help him reach his potential and at this rate he will just up and leave.... not a great performance, I won't celebrate a win like this where we were undeserving of it for an atrocious performance.
