Régis Le Bris was appointed Sunderland manager in June 2024, when the club was still in the Championship.

Despite a poor start to their Premier League campaign, bottom-placed Sunderland remain steadfast in their support for head coach Régis Le Bris.

The Black Cats have won just one of their first nine league matches, suffering a 3-1 away defeat to promoted side Coventry City on Saturday.

However, Sunderland believe the Frenchman can turn things around.

It is understood that the board is prioritizing stability and collective responsibility, hoping to improve the team's results. Chelsea will visit the North East of England on the Sunday before the international break.

Sunderland's dilemma: A trip to San Siro in a relegation battle

Le Bris joined Sunderland from Lorient in 2024, leading them back to the Premier League after an 8-year absence in his first season.

A year later, the 50-year-old manager guided the team to a seventh-place finish, securing qualification for the Europa League.

This was Sunderland's first European qualification in 53 years.

They have currently won two and drawn one of their three Europa League group stage matches and will host Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday.
