From the comments, I noticed a lot of readers have not realized that Liverpool simply triggered a clause in the player's contract. Although this is not acceptable in the PL, players can mutually agree to such a low sale value when signing contracts to avoid being stuck to the long term when they desire to leave for bigger clubs. If not of this, Brighton will have asked for 70-90m because McCalister is a top midfielder
