The wait is finally over. After 915 days away from home, Barcelona will officially return to the iconic Spotify Camp Nou this Saturday, November 22, 2025, when they host Athletic Club in LaLiga.
It’s been two and a half years since the club last played at their legendary stadium—a delay marked by shifting timelines and controversy—but the comeback is now locked in.
City approval clears the way
Earlier today, Barcelona received the green light from the city council, which granted the occupancy permit for Phase 1B of the stadium renovation project.
Unlike the earlier Phase 1A, this approval came without obstacles. The club submitted all required documentation last week, and inspectors found no issues.
Expanded capacity and upgrades
For the clash against Athletic, Camp Nou will welcome 45,401 fans, a capacity similar to the temporary Lluís Companys Stadium. Barcelona had authorization to reopen as early as October 17, but chose to wait for Phase 1B to ensure greater seating and financial viability. With the new license, the Lateral section joins the Tribuna and Gol Sud areas.
The upgrades include:
Safety was a major concern for authorities, and Phase 1B delivers improvements: more evacuation routes, additional access points, new railings, and an advanced sprinkler and fire suppression system.
Economic boost With VIP seating
The reopening also strengthens Barcelona’s finances. Premium seating areas such as the Players Zone and Balcony are now fully operational, with VIP sections in the Lateral, Gol Sud, and Tribuna stands ready to host fans.
Barcelona is working with UEFA to stage their Champions League match against Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Camp Nou. While requirements have been met, final confirmation is still pending.
Ticket prices
Tickets for the historic homecoming are already on sale. Prices range from €199 (approx. $215 USD) for the cheapest seats in the upper corners, to €589 (approx. $640 USD) for central Tribuna seats. VIP packages run between €750 and €1,000 ($815–$1,085 USD).
