Barca 'sensational bid for Mbappe rejected by PSG who offered 3 stars in swap'

Barcelona made a sensational attempt to sign Kylian Mbappe from PSG by offering them Ousmane Dembele and two other players, a shocking report claims.

A reputable agent visited the Parisians but they declined as they were not interested in the latter two stars.

Dembele's contract expires next summer and he has rejected an extension from Barcelona amid interest from the French giants.

PSG previously held talks with Dembele but his release clause yesterday doubled from £43m to £86m, which could make it harder to sign him directly.

Barcelona's staggering offer to PSG included fellow first-team stars Raphinha and Gavi, according to Foot Mercato.

Dembele is thought to have rejected Barca's extension offer due to it not satisfying his £5million-£6m salary demands but it could be that he has been influenced by effectively being used as a bargaining chip.

Luis Enrique, who took over as PSG manager this summer, is understood to be keen to work with the 26-year-old.

The winger had asked his employers to let him speak with PSG directly before his release clause jumped up.

Barcelona would hope to recoup considerable value, either in monetary or human terms, for a player that they paid Borussia Dortmund £135.5m for in 2017.

The Frenchman has won three LaLiga titles with Barcelona and scored 40 goals in 185 appearances.

However, it is surprising that Barcelona would be so willing to part with Gavi, the 18-year-old who is so often seen as the future of their midfield, and Raphinha, who joined from Leeds last summer in a £56m deal.
