Barcelona technical secretary Eric Abidal and his assistant Ramón Planes have met Werner's father in Germany in March.

Lautaro Martinez is the priority for Barcelona. However, it is not an easy task. Thus, Abidal has maintained contacts with other top-tier forwards. One of them is Timo Werner.

The 24-year-old Germany international is one of the most suitable strikers of the moment for his good scoring ability combined with interesting tactical moves out of the box and remarkable physical power.

As MD has learned, Barca has moved seriously for Werner. Those movements through the German tip experienced a remarkable episode in March before trips to other countries were halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Thus, Eric Abidal and Ramón Planes met in Germany with Timo Werner's father, Gunther, to probe their son's predisposition to dress in Barca if certain circumstances occurred. The meeting seemed to be pleasant. In fact, Planes was seen returning from Leipzig on March 12.
