Barcelona have reportedly identified AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek as a possible long term replacement for Luiz Suarez.

Suarez turns 33 in January and signs of a decline have been evident over the past 18 months.

And Calciomercato.it claim Barca's chiefs have not been impressed with how Suarez has started the season and are thinking about bringing in a new forward in January.

A number of options have been discussed, including Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic, Leipzig’s Timo Werner and Getafe’s Jaime Mata.

However, Poland international Piatek is the preferred candidate with the Spanish club 'willing to allocate €50m (£44m)’ to secure his services.

The 24-year-old only joined Milan from Genoa in January for €35m (£31m) and has gone on to score 13 goals in 27 appearances in all competitions.

He is in somewhat of a dry spell at the moment, having scored just once from open play in his last 12 competitive games.

Suarez, meanwhile, has scored three goals in six appearances this term.
