Hansi Flick acknowledged Barcelona need to do something about bringing in a striker, but conceded Ferran Torres' future will play a big part in what they do.
Torres has impressed for Barcelona since joining from Manchester City in December 2021, scoring 65 goals in 207 appearances across all competitions.
His tally of 21 goals in 2025-26 was his best return in a single campaign of his career, and he then followed that up by scoring the winning goal for Spain in the World Cup final.
As such, he has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, a transfer that could leave Barca light at the top end of the pitch after Robert Lewandowski departed at the end of his contract.
Barcelona have been linked with a move for Julian Alvarez, though Atletico Madrid have said they do not intend to let him leave, and Flick admitted they were looking for a new striker.
"It depends on the team. We have to wait," Flick told reporters.
"I have total confidence in [sporting director] Deco, and we know we have to do something. It also depends on Ferran. We'll see what we'll do.
"Lamine [Yamal] has played a couple of games with us [as a false nine]. He's a fantastic, world-class player, and he can adapt to that. Our focus is on him playing as a 'seven', but we'll see what happens.
"I think [Anthony] Gordon and also [Karim] Adeyemi, they can play on both sides. They can play also as a number nine. We have a lot of options, and we'll see what happens."
Barcelona have already added two new wingers to their squad, welcoming Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi to Camp Nou.
They are still awaiting the return of their World Cup winners to pre-season, as well, with Dani Olmo, Lamine Yamal and Young Player of the Tournament Pau Cubarsi all on extended breaks.
Flick has no concerns over fatigue playing a part in the start of Barca's season, though.
"Champions never stop. They know how to win titles, and it's important," he added.
"This title should give them more confidence. When you work hard and focus every day, it eventually becomes something special. That's what we want to achieve this season."

Remove sentiment from it. Between Victor Osimhem and Erling Haaland. The person that fits FC Barcelona style of play is Victor Osimhem. Victor Osimhem is much more skillful than Erling Haaland, press more than Erling Haaland and a conventional striker and that is what FC Barcelona needs. No doubt Erling is a world class striker, very very good and one of the best, but let's be truthful. Erling Haaland is a pure striker. he rarely involves himself in build up play and doesn't defend as much as Victor Osimhem. Erling Haaland is a striker that is more on positioning himself for goal scoring opportunities, winning headers.

Stop disturbing us with f**king osimhem, the only conventional striker that worth it for barca to sign is Haaland and it looks likely he’s far from available, for those selfish nigerian who think osimhem is a good player but not with barca style of play, plus the guy has no difference from ferran torres qualities, osimhem will just be another minus in the game if it happened he don’t score because that is the only thing he can deliver and barca need a player who offer values other just a goal, someone that is very very good to link-up with his team mate and also a versatile, a player whose even without scoring a goal or making an assist he will contribute to create chances, press with high intensity or even contribute defensively. Barca are not stupid to sign osimhem for €80-100m or more and also pay him that high salary he demand from his current club, the only conventional striker worth that figures and with no doubt he can benefit barca from day one and also a reliable consistently is haaland, others that are not good with link-up play are just average but not top class strikers, thats why barca can never go for osimhen and just note that whenever you see any news relating barca to osimhen is a nigerian magazine but not from reliable sources
