Barcelona battered Valencia on their return to La Liga action with a 6-0 home win back on home soil in Catalonia.

Match Report

La Blaugrana were forced to play at the Estadi Johan Cruyff after the latest delay to their return to the Camp Nou but there was no issue for Hansi Flick’s team.

On the back of a 1-1 draw at Rayo Vallecano before the September international break, Flick’s charges needed a response, with Real Madrid racking up four wins from four games so far in 2025/26.

The hosts secured a perfect start back in Barcelona as Fermin Lopez slotted home an opening goal for Flick.

With the game seemingly delicately poised after the restart it was two of Flick’s changes that sparked a second half onslaught.

Raphinha rolled off the bench to double Barcelona’s lead and Lopez’s second goal put the game out of Valencia’s reach at 3-0.

With Los Che on the ropes in the closing stages, they were unable to react to wave after wave of Barcelona attack. but Flick remained relentless.

Raphinha stepped up again, to make it 4-0, before another late change just powered Barcelona over the finishing line.

Robert Lewandowski has been eased back into action in recent weeks, following an injury disrupted start to the campaign, but he offered a reminder of his prowess with two late goals.

A buoyant return to league action is a huge boost for Flick before their UEFA Champions League campaign starts away at Premier League side Newcastle United on September 18.

Following the trip to Tyneside, the focus will turn to the latest on the Camp Nou return, with club officials hopeful on a quick resolution.

Barcelona are confident they can host Getafe at their iconic home on September 21 but the current picture remains unclear.
