Barcelona are studying to renew the contract of Lionel Messi until 2022.
Barcelona are planning to extend Lionel Messi’s contract to 2022, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.
Last November, the Barcelona superstar has just signed contract extension with the club, which would see him stay at Camp Nou until 2021.
However, the La Liga giants are now preparing to offer him a new deal until 2022.
There is a special clause in Messi’s current deal that could see him leave Barcelona in advance should he go to a club which is not a powerhouse in Europe.
That is to say, Messi can go return to his boyhood club Newells Old Boys back in Argentina if he wants.
Despite his age, the 31-year-old has continued to prove his importance for Barcelona in the new season.
His buyout clause is now set at €700m.

He will retire at barca only. He loves barca and camp nou loves him. Without Messi barca is only 20% but with Messi they are 100%. I am little bit worried about barca future but till 2022 barca will win all things that they needed . Messi have done many things for barca . With Messi they have won 4 ucl . Let him retire in Barcelona, he deserves it. Im sure that even a 35 year old Messi will do well for Barcelona. Let him retire, and then retire the kit with number 10, because nobody will be able to wear it after he retires. Nobody will come close to him, and all his achievements. You will never see another Messi.
