Barcelona are prepared to sell Samuel Umtiti this summer in order to pursue a deal for Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt, say reports.
The France international has missed five months of this season with a knee injury but is widely regarded as one of the finest defenders in world football.
The Cameroon-born defender, who joined from Lyon in 2016, has formed a formidable central defensive partnership with Gerard Pique at the Camp Nou.
But the emergence of Clement Lenglet and the pursuit of de Ligt has clouded his future at Barca, who reportedly need to raise funds from first-team squad sales in order to add new signings.
Calciomercato.com report Umtiti is particularly vulnerable, with the club considering a summer sale in order to make a move for the Ajax captain.

Keep 2 Right footed defenders (Todibo & De Ligt) & Left footed defenders(Umtiti & Lenglet) in Barca's squad. Pique is retiring in 2020 .Rest of other are Coach's job to decide how to play them regularly.

to be honest,I never missed umtiti once lenglet is really good and 2 years younger then umtiti,I am really confused what to say like ,we know how good umtiti is but I think lenglet will be better than umtiti in one year of time ,he is already on the level of umtiti so I guess for umtiti's career he should leave Barca because de ligt will be confirmed starter and lenglet will be one of the best in the upcoming years so I wouldn't mind if umtiti leaves,pl don't hate on me it's my opinion 🙏🙏👐

I am a Barca fan, if the rumous surrounding the sale of Samuel Umtiti is true I will sad because the lad has done some thing for the club in the recent years why so soon we want to forget, Despite his recent injury that has kept him away for some time he is still young enough to be kept for a near by future. He can be loaned to any other club within Laliga, I think that would be better than the total selling of the young man......Mann

I see no reason to sell umtiti... keep umtiti, coutihon, molcom, rakitic, Sergio, and our key players .... we need Suarez's replacement and Messi's replacement before it's late pique is retiring soon his replacement is de ligt and todibo, umtiti and lenglet are okay four defenders two right footed and two left footed, right back Miranda or cucurela could fit left back wargue is fit defensive mid de Jong and Puig are fit central mid Alena , Arthur and couti attackers molcom, dembele, couti and forsbeg, center forward Werner and tadic. this could be our future 11 plus future 5 subs

d writer himself has said it all,umtiti is one of finest defenders in the world,wld Barcelona be looking to sell one of the finest defenders in the world for an upstart like de ligt?.I don't think so.Hence since abidal n his goons up there at Barcelona hierarchy are bereft of wat to do,I will oblige them for free..sign de ligt n immediately loan him back to ajax for a couple more seasons,while keeping faith with the crop of defenders currently saving Barcelona's blushes,until pique retires
