During an interview in South Korea, Simeone reiterated Atlético Madrid's position on Álvarez, stating that the player's future must be decided by the club's management, including Gil Marín, and should be handled from a sporting perspective. Despite Atlético Madrid closing the door and Simeone emphasizing Álvarez's importance to the team's plans, Barcelona continues to view the Argentine forward as their primary target to strengthen the attack—a priority for manager Luis de la Fuente and sporting director Deco.

The coming week is expected to be decisive. It is understood that Álvarez plans to submit a transfer request to the club when he returns to training under Simeone after his vacation.
