Rashford responded immediately after the news broke that Barcelona would not activate his buyout clause.
The £26 million buyout clause in Rashford's loan contract with Barcelona was valid until June 15.
However, news emerged on Wednesday that Barcelona would not sign Rashford, at least not for £26 million.
This decision by the Catalan club came just weeks after Rashford expressed his desire to stay permanently.
Rashford had previously made it clear that he loved playing for Barcelona and was eager to remain at Camp Nou, but it appears the decision-makers at the Spanish giant did not reciprocate his feelings.
Instead, Barcelona signed Anthony Gordon to fill Rashford's position, and now, the possibility of Rashford joining Barcelona seems increasingly remote.
As soon as the news broke that Barcelona would not buy out Rashford, the 28-year-old player immediately reacted on social media.
On all of Rashford's social media accounts, he has removed Barcelona-related links from his bio and changed his profile picture to one of him in an England national team jersey.

Every club wants the best deal possible, and United have every right to stand their ground until an agreement is reached. And let's not forget Antonio's transfer to Real Betis. After his loan spell, he made it clear that he wanted to stay there and pushed hard for the move to happen. If a player truly wants a transfer, he can also play his part in making it happen. Football transfers are a two-way street, not just one club forcing the issue
