The Spanish FA's Appeals Committee have ruled that Sergi Roberto must complete his entire four-match ban.
Barcelona had appealed against the length of the sanction for the red card he received in El Clasico, arguing that Getafe's Damian Suárez was let off with a one-game ban for a similar incident.
However, the authorities have not agreed with that interpretation.
Already Sergi Roberto has served two matches of the ban and will serve another against Real Sociedad this weekend.
Barcelona could yet appeal further to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in the next 15 days, but otherwise the Catalan will have to complete his full ban.
