Liverpool made it four Premier League clubs in the quarter-finals of the Champions League after Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk's goals downed Bayern Munich.
Match Events
11' Lewandowski goes down under pressure from Matip
A looping ball into the box comes down to Lewandowski who is able to control it and the Polish striker goes down under pressure form Matip.
The Bayern attacker looks towards the referee for a penalty, but the referee waves play on.
25' WIDE! Firmino's effort wide out
26' GOAL! Bayern 0-1 Liverpool (Mane)
Mane gets played in on the edge of the penalty area by Van Dijk before turning away from both Sule and Neuer who came out to meet him, and was then able to float the ball into the bottom right corner of the net.
Van Dijk showed great vision to drive a low pass into the path Mane who showed great composure to spin away from Sule and the on-rushing Neuer before finding the bottom corner.
34' SAVE! Robertson's shot saved by Neuer
The hosts are starting to come forward now and Liverpool are finding joy on the break.
Mane drives the away side forward before sliding the ball in behind for Robertson, but the Scotsman’s effort is saved at the near post by Neuer.
39' OWN GOAL! Bayern 1-1 Liverpool (Matip)

Milner delivers an inch-perfect corner into the area and it was perfectly placed for Van Dijk to attack and power beyond Neuer.
75' Neuer makes a crucial clearance!
Salah does superbly well to get away down the right-hand side before cutting onto his left foot and leaving Rafinha behind just inside the penalty area, but the Egyptian just fails to get the ball under control and Neuer is able to come out and clear the ball.
84' GOAL! Bayern 1-3 Liverpool (Mane)
Moments after coming on, Origi slides the ball out to the right for Salah who delivers a sublime cross into the box with the outside of his foot and Mane is there to turn it home form close range.
Salah has been a real threat all evening and the Egyptian managed to work a yard of space and float the ball in towards the far post for Mane who applied the finishing touches and beat Neuer from close range.
Match Report
Sadio Mane's brace inspired Liverpool to a convincing 3-1 win at Bayern Munich and a place in the Champions League quarter-finals.
The Senegal forward's excellent 26th-minute opener gave Jurgen Klopp's side a priceless away goal but, in a similar vein to the goalless first leg at Anfield, the action was fitful and error-strewn for the most part.
Bayern were level at the break thanks to Joel Matip's own goal but Niko Kovac's side were never able to mount a sustained victory push.
A typically dominant Virgil van Dijk powered in to leave a forlorn Bayern with a mountain to climb and Mane administered the knockout blow six minutes from time.

Well deserved. Hendersons injury isn’t any loss. Doesn’t understand why we play him, he hasn’t the tempo for playing in international high level. Milner or VVD could play captain well as good. Mane is on fire. VVD also. TAA is so good, Robertson as well. Well deserved win REDS!

I hate football noobs, who just criticize any player if he doesn't scores, as with Salah..Salah was the true Mastermind behind the game....he kept defense busy and distracted all the time which give a room to Mane the Senegalese Messi who just humiliated the best defense.. Every time Salah got the ball he created trouble for Bayern

Bayern!! Bayern never learns from the past.. Niko thought coping Pep's tactics in first leg would give him success but outplayed by Klop... Like last time when Bayern Concided goals, instead of increasing game speed and putting more players in attack Bayern stick with slow and less attacking play

ever since I became a soccer fan this is when I've seen all 4 English teams in UCL progress in the last 8 and its all bcoz Asernal and Chelsea are in Europa. Now I just. hope Man city are drawn against Rinaldo or Messi and that not any of the 4 drawn against each other coz it'll just feel like we're watching EPL instead of UCL

Remember how English teams were meant to be crap in the UCL. 1 Spanish team, 1 Dutch team, 1 Italian team, 1 Portuguese team, 4 English teams!! Van Dijk and Mane were joint MOTM. Salah was best hide n seek player of the match.

Yessss I so badly wanted Liverpool to win so that the English sides can once again dominate the Champions League like the old times, Liverpool, City, Spurs and United through to the quarter-finals and we will show the world that English sides are also teams to fear, we'll not let the trophy stay in Spain, one of us will bring it back to England, good game by Liverpool

Thumbs Up Klop for not listening to Gary football nugget. You have proven that you can fight in all front today. I know haters will always accuse you of having no title to show for all your football prowess. Always remind them that we, your fans are in the majority. You have made my day today, thank you

I hope Liverpool will certainly score in this game but I am not really sure if they can win. We know bm is technical team as is klop's, and klop knows what to say to his boys so is very much up to the players to execute . Please a goal is a must....go Liverpool go.

Have said again and again, Bayern Munich coach Kovac is not good enough, the club is too big for him to handle, this same thing happened to David Moyes. The club has a huge tradition and not sure Kovac can for it in right now

Liverpool knock out favourite Bayen Munich on their home ground. Liverpool played magnificently especially when Mane and guys in top Reds form, scoring a brace, even Munich goal was an own goal, a well deserved win and a place in the quarter finals, Well done, Liverpool. YNWA

What I think is England (Tottenham, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool) will go on to win the title. Really hopeful albeit FC Barcelona & Juventus are favourites!

why people are talking about Barca and Lyon rather than Liverpool vs bayern. I hate one sided matches. Also everyone saw that coming. but Liverpool match was so damn good n intense. Barca fans don't care bout football maybe xd.

2017/18 UCL Liverpool were drawn against Man City and people were saying that was the end of the road for Liverpool and Liverpool thrashed City with an aggregate of 5-1 in the UCL and 2018/19 UCL Liverpool were drawn against Bayern and everyone else said the same thing again, end of the road for Liverpool but we proved them wrong.

English football is back on the map with 4 teams out of 8 . People have always written off English clubs but they are slowly starting to dominate European football , I hope next season Arsenal will also be representing .
