Bayern Munich are in "intensive talks" with star striker Harry Kane ahead of "the next steps" regarding his future.

Those were the words of Bayern sporting director Max Eberl as he responded to the latest speculation regarding the England captain.

Kane has scored 86 goals in 84 Bundesliga matches since moving to Bayern in 2023, seemingly scaling even greater heights in Munich.

The 32-year-old has netted with 25.2% of his shots in the Bundesliga, far surpassing his conversion rate of 18.1% in the Premier League for Tottenham.

But even as Kane steers Bayern towards a second straight Bundesliga title, talk around his future persists.

A potential return to the Premier League has long been mooted, and Eberl addressed the possibility of a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia as Bayern prepared for their DFB-Pokal quarter-final against RB Leipzig.

"We are talking [to Kane]," Eberl told a news conference. "That doesn't mean negotiations have started.

"We are in intensive talks with Harry, then the next steps will follow.

"I can't comment on the rumours circulating that someone is preparing anything [a transfer bid].

"All I can say is that we are in close contact with Harry regarding him and our success."

Kane's next Bundesliga goal will be his 300th in Europe's top five leagues, having scored 213 Premier League goals in 317 matches for Tottenham. He also played three times for Norwich City in the top flight without scoring.

In the Bundesliga, he averages a goal every 80 minutes.
