Bayern Munich are dreaming of a return to the club for Pep Guardiola as the club continue their search for a new head coach, according to reports.
Guardiola is currently happy at the helm of Manchester City after guiding the club to a historic Treble last year and currently holding the fate of a fourth consecutive Premier League title in their hands.
The City chief signed a new contract with the club two-years ago that keeps him in England's north-west until 2025 at the earliest, but Bayern executives are keen to bring Guardiola back to the club, as reported by Kicker.
Previous Bundesliga and German Super Cup success followed during Guardiola's three-year reign at the club between 2013 and 2016, before he left to take up the reigns of an English club for the first time at City.
Guardiola previously revealed he felt like he had 'failed' during his time at Bayern after failing to deliver a Champions League triumph and has maintained his presence in Munich ever since leaving.
The 53-year-old still owns an apartment in the German city where he previously resided and also visits the country on the odd occasion when looking to take a break around Europe.
Bayern's sporting director Max Eberl fuelled optimism amongst fans surrounding a possible return to Guardiola after commenting on the club's search for a new head coach at the weekend.
'In life, it's sometimes surprising: doors close, you're disappointed beyond measure. And all of a sudden, doors open that you thought three weeks ago were impossible,' he said after Bayern's 3-1 defeat by Stuttgart.
A move for Guardiola looks unlikely this summer after the former Barcelona coach also revealed he could further extend his stay at the Etihad in the wake of Jurgen Klopp announced his intentions to leave Liverpool at the end of the season.
‘I’m fine. There’s still one more year, I want to do it - and maybe I will extend. I try to manage.
‘What we did last season, we have to do more and more now - it’s not going to happen. One step at a time.
‘I see my team every single day and the team is there. They still argue between each other. The competition in training. They want to win. The focus they have, How they talk. How they communicate. How they celebrate.

Which Club in the World now can easily offer Pep what he got a Manchester City? Secondly Pep leaving City will be to Manage a Country or Club for the Love not the Money. I see Pep Coaching the Brazilian National Team. Maybe Spain, but with his Love for Barcelona Maybe not, because Spain has Real Madrid players, so that might not happen. But why did Bayern allowed him to Leave, not they want him back. Careful of your X Bayern. [Crylaugh][Crylaugh] Anyway we Manchester City will continue enjoying our History making GOAT. Pep GOAT Gaudiola 🐐.
