Inter Miami owner David Beckham showed he still has a trick or two up his sleeve during a kick-about with the club's academy stars on Thursday afternoon.

The 45-year-old, who retired as a professional player in 2013, laced up his boots again to impart some wisdom on the younger players at the club while also managing a cheeky nutmeg during the session.

In a clip of the session, Beckham was seen scoring a goal with a nutmeg before realising the moment was filmed by pointing and laughing at the camera.

While being nutmegged is usually a moment to forget for any footballer, the young recipient won't be wiping it from his memory any time soon given that it was a Manchester United and Real Madrid legend doing the damage.

Beckham joined the academy players from the impromptu session at the club's training center, where he took part in a number of drills and competitions, according to the club's official website.

It was also the first time Beckham has been at the club's facilities since the beginning of the 2020 season due to the pandemic.

During the session, Beckham also showcased the skills that made him one of the world's best midfielders, showing the players in attendance that he certainly still has it.

And while Beckham continues to keep himself fit on the training field, it will be his work off it that could take the MLS side to the next level.

England Women's boss Phil Neville has been linked with the managerial role at Inter Miami in recent weeks and is said to be the man Beckham wants in the hotseat.

And while a reunion with close friend and former team-mate Neville is on the cards, another United-link could emerge in the form of Odion Ighalo.

The 31-year-old will see his loan at United from Shanghai Shenhua expire at the end of the season and has revealed he is open to the prospect of joining Beckham at Inter Miami.

Ighalo has proven he still has capabilities in front of goal with five strikes to his name in the second half of the 2020-19 campaign, despite being deployed from the substitutes bench.

And now Ighalo, who will return to his parent club but has no long-term plans to remain in China, is hoping his exploits can land him a switch to Major League Soccer, which he says he has been watching with a keen eye.

Ighalo told ESPN: 'I have been watching MLS and the league is doing well and I would like to play in the MLS.

'I have to wait for offers and if the opportunity arises, I will take it because the league is doing well and it is a good life and I would love it.

'Lots of players go there. Even Gonzalo Higuain from Juventus is there, also Giovanni dos Santos. Why not? I would like to go there if an opportunity arises.

'Being an experienced player, going there, doing well. It is an opportunity if it comes for me. The David Beckham club [Inter Miami] is growing, so if an opportunity arises why not?' he added.
