Jude Bellingham cheekily claimed he's not done bad 'for a Championship player' after his impressive debut season in the Champions League came to an end at the quarter-final stage.
The 17-year-old has been one of Borussia Dortmund's standout players in their run to the quarter-finals, featuring in every one of their matches, and once again put in an eye-catching display as they were dumped out by Manchester City on Wednesday night.
Bellingham had scored a wonderful goal in the first half to bring Dortmund level on aggregate on the night - becoming the youngest Englishman to ever net in the competition - before Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden struck to fire City through to the semi-finals.
The midfielder's performances in the Champions League this term have expelled any doubts that he wasn't ready to play on the biggest stage, having only joined Dortmund in a £25million deal from Championship side Birmingham last summer.
And Bellingham, who is only the second player in history to play in 10 Champions League matches before his 18th birthday, admitted he's been delighted with how well he's coped with his exposure to European football. When asked what he can take away from his debut season in the competition, Bellingham told BT Sport: 'Not bad for a Championship player eh?
'I think I've taken every game in my stride, I had a bit of a tough start away at Lazio and then since then I think all of my best performances in BVB colours have come in the Champions League, including tonight.
'For me it's brilliant to play in this competition and for this club, it's a huge honour, so I can take a little bit away from that and learn from it but I'm still gutted we didn't make it through.'
Former England international Owen Hargreaves was one of many who was effusive in his praise for Bellingham after his composed and mature display against City.
'Wow, he's unbelievable, he's amazing,' Hargreaves said.
'The touch, composure and finish. He has the instinct to arrive in the box and the quality to do that is scary. The more you watch him the more he blows you away.'
Even City manager Pep Guardiola admitted to being left dazzled by Bellingham's performance, which belied his tender years.
'I cannot believe it, maybe he's a liar!' Guardiola joked after the match. 'He's so good for 17-years-old, he's a fantastic player.
'There was one moment when he didn't get the ball from central defenders, how he shouts and demands that ball to him at 17 means a lot.
'I spoke with his manager, Edin [Terzic], and he told me what you see in these two games is like every training session.'
Bellingham and Co face a challenge though if they want to play in next season's Champions League, with Dortmund currently sat fifth in the Bundesliga, seven points behind Eintracht Frankfurt with just six games to go.
