After a difficult period in his career, Belotti has rediscovered his peak form at Modena. In two consecutive league matches against Empoli and Verona, he scored decisive goals, helping Modena, coached by Pierpaolo Bisoli, secure two valuable victories. Modena is currently third in the Serie B standings with 13 points, three points behind leaders Palermo and two points behind second-placed Mantova.
Difficult Times at Cagliari
Belotti, nicknamed "the Rooster," had a very challenging season on Sardinia last year. He transferred from Como to Cagliari and had a decent start, performing well in his debut and scoring twice in his second match. However, a collision with opponent Martinez during a challenge on September 27, 2024, resulted in a severe anterior cruciate ligament injury to his left knee, sidelining him for a long period.
Belotti returned from injury on April 11, 2025, but he was no longer a priority for head coach Pisacane. In the subsequent matches, he played a total of only 28 minutes across just 5 appearances. At the end of the season, both parties initially intended to renew his contract, but the results of the medical examination led Cagliari to withdraw, making Belotti a free agent.
Joining Modena, Achieving a Strong Comeback
After becoming a free agent, Belotti continued to train independently. In early September this year, he received an offer from Modena. The two parties signed a one-year contract until June 30, 2026, with an annual salary of 300,000 euros after tax. The club was banking on his desire to prove himself.
This signing was not inexpensive for Modena, but it has already paid off: against Empoli, Belotti's bicycle kick sparked a team comeback, helping them complete a reversal; against Verona, he then scored a late winner from a Giuseppe Caso assist, impressing the home fans.
The two goals were scored in completely different ways, but both stemmed from Belotti's strong belief in rebuilding his career and repaying the faith of his new club. His resurgence has made Modena fans start to dream of higher goals. While it's too early to talk about promotion, Belotti clearly has no intention of stopping his progress.
