Manchester United signed Benjamin Sesko in the summer transfer window despite the forward having interest from Arsenal and Newcastle United before making the switch to Old Trafford
Benjamin Sesko claims he only ever had eyes for Manchester United ahead of completing a 'dream' transfer to Old Trafford despite a great deal of interest in his signature, including from rival Premier League clubs.
The Slovenia international made the move in the summer as part of an attacking overhaul by the Red Devils. Sesko was the only out-and-out striker United signed as they splashed £200million on their forward line, also adding Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha. They had competition for the striker's signature, with Newcastle even moving for first for the ex-RB Leipzig star.
The £74million signing was also linked to Arsenal for much of the summer. However, the Gunners could not agree a deal so instead turned their attention to Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres.
Turning United's fortunes around was an attractive prospect for Sesko. Though he was slowly introduced to the side, he has now recorded two goals in his two most recent starts and has no regrets over his choice. "It’s not just mine, but probably for loads of football players, it’s just a dream," Sesko told Sky Sports.
"Something that you want to achieve in your career, especially to play for a club like that. When I heard that I can move here and there are big possibilities that I can change clubs, especially to United, I was burning. It’s something that I always wanted to have. It happened and I’m really happy."
Sesko was asked if United was the only side he wanted to sign for and replied: "Yeah. For me, this was a dream to play for a club like this and a stadium like this. It’s something that I always wanted."
Despite positive signs emerging from Sesko, the forward was only named on the bench for last weekend's 2-1 win over Liverpool. Amorim suggested it was a tactical decision as they overcame the Premier League champions. He explained: "Cunha returning to the team - I think he's one player [who] has one characteristic that can help us to push the team forward.
"I think [Ibrahim] Konate and [Virgil] van Dijk likes the confrontation in the air. So we'll try to give them different things to try to win the game."
Sesko will be hopeful of returning to the team against Brighton with Mason Mount a doubt for the fixture. United have not defeated the Seagulls at home since 2022 as they are once again presented with a test of proving their progress under Amorim.

Arsenal wasn't ready to pay the then asking price from ur club, 80m plus for an unproven player with a mere 13 Bundesliga goal. You were not even first choice for Man U, they came for u after missing out on Gyokeres. so calm down and focus on building yourself first cos right now u are just an average player .
