Arsenal target Benjamin Sesko’s reaction to a pre-season goal against Liverpool proves that he is more than ready to lead Mikel Arteta’s frontline.
The Gunners are currently engaged in their third consecutive title tilt - the past two agonisingly thwarted by Manchester City - but a dire injury crisis has thinned out their attacking roster. Draws in the Premier League have begun to stack up, and eyes have inevitably turned to the transfer market.
Arteta’s side were urged in the summer to secure the services of a top no. 9, but, with £65million shelled out for Kai Havertz in 2023, a marksman wasn't prioritised. Now, with Gabriel Jesus sidelined for some time and the German not firing, the lingering need for a striker enters the forefront yet again.
One name consistently linked with a move to the Emirates has been that of RB Leipzig standout Sesko. The 21-year-old Slovenian has already scored 14 goals in all competitions this campaign and has long been of interest to English clubs. Plus, t seems as though some of his past comments would make him the perfect Arsenal player.
In the summer of 2023, Sesko moved on from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg to his current outfit in the Bundesliga - and looked back fondly on his four-year tenure.
“Sometimes I need a reminder,” Sesko reflected on RB Salzburg’s YouTube channel. “You have to work hard for it, and besides that, you have to believe it, and then everything should be as it is.”
The striker was then shown one of his more high-profile goals - a 31st-minute pre-season friendly strike against Liverpool. He was just 19 years old at the time, and his reaction when looking back at what turned out to be the winner in a 1-0 victory was telling.
“I totally remember this one,” Sesko continued. “The skill against Liverpool. There, people see that I’m also capable to do magic with the ball in situations like this. This moment, I will just… I scored against Liverpool. Wow! I was really proud of myself that I could score against teams like that.”
Sesko’s pride when scoring against world-class opposition somewhat proves that if he were to jump ship for England’s top flight - where he’d seek to be netting against teams like the Reds week in and week out - he would be ready and feel as though he has proved himself in the past.
Though the marksman may garner a slightly higher fee should he be recruited in January, it is reported that Sesko holds a gentleman's agreement with Leipzig that would allow him to leave in the summer for roughly £60m.
Gunners boss Arteta has addressed such a documented need for a striker, and admits that given the injury problems currently plaguing the Emirates, something is being done.
"At the moment, we don't have them [a striker]," admitted Arteta. "We are trying, as I said, actively to find the best possible solution. We will have to wait and see what we can do. Obviously, that is not something I'm going to discuss here. We have lost two massive players for us in the front line and we need some support there."

I don't why arne don't try to buy player from his formal club. Santiago Gimenez for example have good scoring record currently, he is still 23 years old.
do you think he is the one bringing the money to sign players ???????!!!!
