Manchester United lost 3-2 to Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday and William Hill now make the Portuguese boss 7/2 favourite in the sack race market
One of the most discussed markets in a Premier League season is the one known as the "sack race".
Betting is available on the first top flight boss to leave their post and it is often an interesting barometer for the confidence and expectations surrounding each side. These prices can be found via the competitions page where punters should select "Specials", then "Manager Specials" in order to see the market.
Jose Mourinho is now 7/2 (4.50) with William Hill to be settled as the winner in this particular heat following Manchester United's defeat to Brighton on Sunday.
A seemingly strained relationship between the Portuguese boss and United chief executive Ed Woodward - particularly over a lack of transfer activity - means Mourinho has never been far from the head of the market.
With a clash against Tottenham Hotspur on the horizon at Old Trafford next Monday, the bookmakers are taking few chances regarding the potential departure of a manager who is cutting a frustrated figure on the sidelines and when undertaking his media duties. Things have regularly turned sour for the 55-year-old in his third season at previous clubs and it seems increasingly unlikely that he'll remain in situ following the current campaign.
William Hill also have markets on how long the current United boss will be in charge of the Red Devils for. The bookmaker are 13/8 (2.63) that he has left by January 1 2019 and 5/4 (2.25) about the Special One departing before the final game of the current Premier League season which is 3pm on May 12 2019.
Should Mourinho leave United, William Hill currently make Zinedine Zidane a 7/4 (2.75) chance to take over with reports suggesting that the three-time Champions League winning boss is interested in a move to England after leaving Real Madrid earlier this year.
Claude Puel is available at 4/1 (5.0) to be the first top flight manager to leave with rumours surrounding his future at the King Power Stadium surfacing regularly. The Foxes' ownership have allowed the Frenchman plenty of funds to invest into his squad over the summer though and a change of manager this early in the campaign seems unlikely.
Rafael Benitez has also voiced his frustration over a lack of transfer activity and the Newcastle boss is available at 6/1 (7.0). The Magpies got their first point of the season with a 0-0 draw at Cardiff but could have taken all three had Kennedy converted a last-gasp penalty.
Mark Hughes (7/1) comes next in the betting and could be an interesting bet after Southampton's 2-1 defeat to Everton.
Saints finished just one place above the relegation zone last term and although their next three Premier League games don't look especially difficult (Leicester, Crystal Palace, Brighton), failure to fire against that calibre of team will leave the 54-year-old in a difficult position given their slow start.

The best couch needs full support from his club board without which any couch will never gonna win games week in n week out !! Pep gets every possible support from his club board ! Thatโs the difference made so far ! Pep would have won PL if he didnโt get the support he needs from his club board!!

With that much $ he spent in the past 3 years, any other managers had delivered. Jose should be sack immediately before is too late.

leave him alone. it's not the first time a team lost a game. he's a great manager, he's a winner. let's just hope they get back to win again.

Obviously this is what Mourinho wants. He started two seasons ago with Pep, and on the 3rdseadon,Pep only needa one player to improve his phenomenal team,Mourinho's looking for funds to overhaul, WHAT!! Bailey, Lindelof, Pogba, Lukaku are still not improving, no single player is better in his team due to hos coaching! Lol. Foden, Diaz, Walker, Mendy, Stones, Sterling, Sane, KDB, both Silvas, etc are all IMPROVED! Not a single player is better under Mourinho. Only Mahrez is brought in and Mourinho wants a new team. What was he thinking about two years ago when he bought? Now it's nearly half a billion and 'no team'! Klopp's ahead of him too, Sarri and Unai statistically play and score better STATS albeit being new to EPL. Mourinho's never been a long-term guy. Rashford, Lingard, Brothwick, Mensah, Pereira, Wilson etc have all regressed. LVG was far better,long-term thinker. If Woodward isn't careful, he'll br entangles in this Mourinho mess and won't account for the half a billion already spent. Pep saved a fortune this third season and may as well be saving to buy Mbappe next year! Imagine where Man United will be then? Overhauling, again? Umder a new coach? No wonder Pep has clearly outlined that their single most important plan is to topple United from their claim to dominance.
